Bush, Taft ratings at record lows in new poll

CINCINNATI - Approval ratings for President Bush and Gov. Bob Taft reached record lows last month in a statewide poll released on Friday.

Only 35 percent of Ohioans approved of the president's overall performance in the latest Ohio Poll, the lowest numbers for any president since the poll began in 1981, and Taft's approval rating of 26 percent was also the lowest for a governor.

Bush's approval ratings in the state that helped deliver the 2004 election to him were similarly low on questions about Iraq, foreign policy and the economy.

"Whether you're talking about overall job approval, foreign policy, his handling of Iraq or his handling of the economy, the ratings are all at the lowest point in his presidency," said Eric Rademacher, associate director of the Ohio Poll.

Because , as long as brother Blackwell is in charge of the voting, it won't matter a bit. :evilfrown:

3. Taft has come up seven points it would seem
He used to be at 19% approval. Ignorance has run amok it would seem.

4. Its a GOP slanted poll
The same pollster showed Blackwell only a few points behind Strickland for governor, when every other poll had Strickland at least 12 or 13 points ahead.

6. But of course that SLanted Blackwell poll was FRONT PAGE
on the Columbus Disgrace

And a total lie....right now every other poll I am seeing between Blackwell and Strickland is a double digit lead for Strickland.

5. Come to think of it, you don't hear much lately from Blackwell's toady
...Carlo "I prefer my nuts dry roasted" LaParo.

What are the chances of Bush's 119,000-vote victory, which puts him over the top in the Electoral College vote, being overturned?

"None," said Carlo LaParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Ken Blackwell.

"These accusations are absurd," he said. "Come on. You answer the questions and you provide explanations. And yet these folks still don't believe you. You get to the point where you essentially have to say, 'You know what? I prefer my nuts dry roasted. Thank you.'

Has his unprofessional ass been canned yet? He should have been in his slippers and robe the very morning he said that...holding a pen, a cup of coffee and the Employment section of the Plain Dealer....

7. Wow, if approval of republicans in Ohio is at 1/4 to 1/3, that means ...
that they'll only get about half of the Ohio vote. After all, Diebold can only do so much. ;)

8. Ohio's love for Bush fades (Repukes abandoning sinking ship)

Ohio's love for Bush fades
President's approval rating here hits its lowest point
BY HOWARD WILKINSON | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

A new Ohio Poll out Friday showed President Bush's approval rating in Ohio at 35 percent - not just the lowest of his presidency, but the lowest of any of the four presidents in the 25-year history of the University of Cincinnati-based poll.

For Ohio Republicans, several of whom face tough election battles, the poll had no good news - and prompted them to cite their independence from the nation's top Republican.

Gov. Bob Taft's approval rating, which has steadily dropped over the past four years, also has hit a new low, at 26 percent.

One of the reasons for Bush's continued free fall in the polls is that his support has fallen among Ohioans who identify themselves as Republicans, said the Ohio Poll's Eric Rademacher. One of every three Republicans polled said they disapprove of Bush's performance.

<snipping> (Looks like the rats are abandoning ship -- or trying to!)

"People know me; and they know that I've disagreed with the president when I believed it was the right thing to do,'' said Rep. Steve Chabot, citing his differences with the Bush administration over immigration and the Medicare drug plan. Chabot, R-Westwood, faces a nationally watched re-election battle against Democrat John Cranley, a Cincinnati city councilman.

"For him to act like he is moving away from Bush is just not credible,'' said Cranley, noting that Chabot has voted with the Bush administration 89 percent of the time.

13. One of those voting machines is owned by guess who?
Venezuela. I had to laugh when I heard it on CNN. Of course CNN was railing against Chavez and I think it is just plain stupid to allow a foreign country to own our votes, I mean voting machines, but isn't this a flat earth? Isn't this the border-less free-trade our greedy corporate rulers want?

It would be fine if a cheating, lying repuke company owned the machines and the President of the company came out and guaranteed the win to the repukes. That's ok. But don't let them liberal countries get a foothold. Who knows what might happen? The repukes might not be able to get Chavez to cheat for them.

for all I know be a fascist. Does anybody know anything about the person who bought the company? Thanks in advance.

10. On Taft: I'm kind of surprised he hasn't been strung up in the town
square by now.

I don't think he even has 30% of his own family behind him at this point.

And his dog left home, too.

14. To this I will comment
We were on the streets in Columbus , Ohio in December 2004. Where was the rest of the country? 200 people out of our entire nation. Trust me it was not a good feeling to know that the rest of country was willing to let this theft go down! Enough said. Peace, Kim

15. I wouldn't place the blame on the Ohio voters.
There is too much evidence that the whole thing was a scam from the start.

Blame the Rebornican goverment of Ohio, but not the voters.

16. The problem is an apathetic American society!
The count in Ohio determined the election for the entire country and yet somehow a few Ohioans were supposed to protect the vote? This was a national theft and should have been demonstrated in every state. This post is indicative of the problem.

20. Might've been less apathetic if our candidates would have bothered
to tell the truth rather than collude with the thieves by staying silent - to this day.
In Ukraine - Romania too - it was the cheated candidates who demanded a revote - and with popular support they got it - and became presidents.
In 2000 Gore fought, and we were in the streets in NYC - but it was Gore who said "stay home". Still, at least, he made it known THAT election was stolen. These jokers are preparing for another 'run" while abiding for voters to be blamed.

to vote for Kerry - not many machines in black precincts either.

18. NYT had articles like this in 2004 - but Blackwell made sure it
didn't matter. I remember the stories of dems outregistering GOP in new voters 2 to one and terrific exit polls too...
When it came to it, CNN "adjusted" its exit polls to results and all was well - nothing to see there.
So, what love of Bush?

21. Taft is a bellwether for what the nation is feeling right now...
and I believe that the nationwide rate of 35% bush approval is too high. I would put him in the mid-twenties at this point...someone is skewing the results. Even here in NE, where he is supposed to have a 50% approval rating, I can find no one that thinks bush is even an "adequate" president.

Toledo is now a target for terrorist attacks and has been given a plus up in HS funding. They are gearing up the fear/pork/Gay/Abortion thing in selected locations. Time will tell if it works.

so we won't have another miracle election in 08.
