U.S. dollar falling on deficit worries

The value of the U.S. dollar is falling and recently hit a seven-month low against Japan's yen.

And Canada's dollar is near levels not seen since 1978, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

That helps U.S. exporters who are able to lower their prices for goods, but it raises the price of imported goods, including fuel, potentially adding to inflation.

Analysts say much of the recent drop reflects worries about the U.S. federal budget deficit. But they remain divided over whether the U.S. dollar is in for a long-term slide, the newspaper said.

I think this process began with Reagan..but Clinton gave us a brief period of relief. I believe the dollar is falling because of the growing national debt, the growing value of the euro, and our country is being hit hardest as fossil fuels across the globe become depleted. I think the solutions are to begin paying down the national debt, pushing for a common currency with Canada..like the euro, and to begin changing our transportation system before things really get bad.
