Parents killed, kids sold (China)
There are no shortages of monsters in the world. Here is the story of one:
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,18917186-23109,00.html

A WOMAN has been arrested for murdering eight people in China's central Henan province and selling their children, state media reported today.

Jia Dezhi, 55, confessed to the killings after six bodies were found buried in the courtyard of her home in Anyang city, the Southwest Express newspaper reported.

"I killed the adults for the money, it made the selling of their children less bothersome," the paper quoted her as saying.

"Killing a person is really easy. First put some narcotic in their food, wait until they faint and then feed them some pesticide and it's finished.

"Killing a person is no different than killing a chicken," she said

11. She's right, killing is easy...
but most people won't do it except in exceptional circumstances. I really do think that a lot of murder can be committed without consequences but most people won't do it except in exceptional circumstances and not because of the fear of getting caught. I've had experience with people in the worst of circumstances who choose to do the best they can and I don't think it's a pavlov response triggered by years of religious indoctrination; rather, it seems like a human impulse towards co-operation and grace. That's why the cruelty and self-interest portrayed so much in popular media seems discordant to me.

Anyway, I think this woman's actions are aberrant in almost all cultural situations...an exception. This also makes me think that such behavior might be attractive to people who seek exceptionalism because of personal psychological needs or an ethnic expectation of exceptionalism at any cost...the old idea that a bad reputation is better than no reputation at all.

Well...
