'Wash Post' Launches Conservative Blog, Provokes a 'Firestorm'
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002200090

During the recent controversy surrounding Dan Froomkin's blog at The Washington Post, editors not only decided to clearly label his column "opinion" but also to make an effort to hire a conservative blogger to balance his alleged liberal slant.

Today, the Post launched the result: A new blog called "Red America," created by Ben Domenech, co-founder of RedState, a popular community blog.

... Starting with a bang, he declared today, "This is a blog for the majority of Americans." Some may argue that this is an outdated notion, given the president's current approval rating and the latest polls showing that a clear majority of Americans favor Democrats in this November's congressional elections.

1. Difference is that Froomkin cut his teeth as a reporter with all the rules
that go with that duty. He was never a partisan hack.

2. For the "majority" of Americans? No, only for the deluded ones
who think a conservative blog represents the majority of Americans.

13. Siince when is 30% a MAJORITY??
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 03:03 PM by SoCalDem
The "conservatives" are a vocal and obnoxious bunch with key people in charge of most media outlets.. Their "strength" is over-emphasized, so they 'seem' like a majority, but it's really just the same tired 30% who hounded Clinton for 15 years (and still hounds him)..

That ant looks pretty big when you apply the magnifying glass too.. Of course sometimes, if the sun is hitting the glass at JUST the right angle...well...you get my drift..

14. and republican women's fashion..
"Mommie" started it with all the red she wore..NancyReagan-red...a color all its own.. Google republican+women+red and look at what pops up..

That's why I was surprised at the democratic-inspired "wear red on friday" as a show of support thing a while back.. BLACK would have been a more appropriate color :)

7. I'm trying to remember, did the WaPo feel the need to be balanced
under other presidents? What is it about this administration that has democrats and the media bending over backwards not to be too offensive? They sure as hell had no problem prior to 2001 and their timidity enforces the very false image of him as revered and untouchable. He's NOT a religious figure and if the vote results are correct, half the nation voted against him.
