BAGHDAD, Iraq A Marine, three members of one Iraqi family and an Iraqi soldier were killed in a car bombing Friday near the former insurgent stronghold of Fallujah, the American military said.

The announcement gave no other details, but included a note of condolences.

Today, Iraqi Security Forces were working alongside Marines to ensure the safety of the citizens of Fallujah. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the individuals who lost their lives, said Lt. Col. Bryan F. Salas, a Marine spokesman in the area.

Smoke rises behind row of houses after a suicide bomb attack in Falluja, 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad March 10, 2006. A suicide truck bomb struck a checkpoint manned by U.S. soldiers and Iraqi security forces in the former Sunni stronghold of Falluja on Friday, killing at least 11, including five police, police said. There was no immediate word from the U.S. military on the blast in eastern Falluja. REUTERS/Mohanned Faisal

11. Hope this helps, I've been through this too :(
Just wanted to try and set you at ease. I wanted to just send a PM, but this is my first post and PMs aren't allowed.

My little bro was a marine seriously wounded in Falluja 2 months ago, our family was contacted w/in 4 hours of the incident.

I know that the Marines response to deaths is even faster than for injuries so based on how long ago this bombing happpened I don't think you should worry much, the family has likely been contacted by now. As long as you are somewhere that is known to the Marines you would have word by now. Even in rural areas they send out reps from the recruiting stations if that is the best they can do.

Best wishes. Semper fi.

12. I just got a response from his unit's Key Volunteers--
I emailed in a panic to see if they knew what had happened.

As you predicted, he's fine. I would have been notified long before now if he had been hurt or killed.

Thank you everyone for the concern--it helped while I was flipping out.

My thoughts are with the family of the Marine who died today.

3. HOW MANY MORE GEORGIE, HOW MANY MORE?
MARCH - APRIL 2004
MARKING THE FIRST YEAR OCCUPATION OF IRAQ
I AM TOO SCARED TO CLOSE MY EYES
http://www.bushflash.com/year.html

HOW MANY MORE GEORGIE, HOW MANY MORE?

Enveloped in a sentiment,
A sound that rushes over me.
Engage an impulse to pretend
I have a faith as pure.
Not forgetting what it means to dream.
Indulging everything.
Entertaining thoughts that I've the strength
Of those I yearn to be.
Cheers and tribute greet the saviours.
Reckless thoughts survive.
Anachronistic and impulsive.

And what will happen?
Will I dream?
I am too scared to close my eyes.
For a second please hold me.
None can change in me these things that I believe.
But I don't know what happens now.
I am too scared to close my eyes.

17. Pile the bodies high

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.
