Ex-'Apprentice' Announces Run for Congress
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Raj Bhakta, the aspiring "Apprentice" turned aspiring politician, is running for Congress.

Bhakta, who was fired by Donald Trump during the second season of the NBC reality show "The Apprentice," is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz for the state's 13th District seat representing suburban Philadelphia.

Bhakta received the county GOP's endorsement days before making his announcement Monday.

"We offer voters legitimate change," Bhakta said. "I am not a politician. I am someone from a business background who wants to make a change."

2. Not only "smarmy, creepy, yucky", he was certifiably nuts.
Wasn't he the one that fell head over heels over that tennis pro on one of the segments, and ended up running around the arena in his boxers?
He chased anything in a skirt and had bizarre ideas. Hmmmm...I think I just defined a Republican. LOL

30. Here's the write up from the sight.
At Arthur Ashe Stadium, Mosaic arrived to see John McEnroe and Anna Kournikova playing tennis - and the guys jumped in. Andy said that as a kid, he had a poster of McEnroe on his wall, and playing with him now was "beyond a dream come true." On the other hand, Raj was pursuing a dream of his own as he got up the courage to ask out Anna Kournikova, whom he called "an epic beauty." Anna decided to make it interesting and said that if Raj could return one of her five serves, she would go out with him; otherwise, he would have to perform a dare. Raj accepted the challenge - but try as he might, he couldn't return a single serve. As payment for his loss, Raj had to jog around the entire stadium wearing only his boxers. To add insult to injury, McEnroe, Kournikova and the rest of Mosaic fired tennis balls at the nearly-naked Raj, who did his best to avoid a direct hit.

I didn't see any link for a video of that episode, but I'm sure NBC has it!

31. Thanks
I actually saw that episode but didn't remember the underwear. I mostly remember him looking so stupid as he dodged those tennis balls but he is an even bigger idiot than I recalled.

10. To be honest I've rarely seen celebs come out supporting GOP agenda
Sure there is Kevin Bacon & Ben Stiller but I've rarely seen them.

Obviously I don't closely "follow" GOP activities but I just havent seen as many actors supporting GOP bullshit.

12. But look at 2006.
You have Arnold running for Gov in CA, you have that football player Swann running for Gov in PA, and now this Apprentice guy. All republicans. I just find it strange that the GOP gets behind celebrities running for office, but blames Hollywood for so many of America's problems.

33. Ben Stein
is a major repuke shill.

He was a speech writer for Nixon I believe. He has given money mostly to repukes, but gave some $ to Ed Markey of MA a few years ago.

He also gave $ to Nader, for obvious reasons.

14. The Text on his Website Sounds like a lot of what Kerry said in 2004
"made the United States respected around the world"

"I am running for Congress because America is at a crossroads. Our government cannot continue spending more than it makes. We have to make tough fiscal decisions to eliminate our gaping trade and budget deficits, and keep the American Dream alive for future generations"

"If elected, I will fight for small and clean government and to strengthen America's bright future"

This guy is such a fucking fake, I am so tired of people like this guy who has never put in an honest days worth of work in his life thinking that he can lead this country. What has he done for our country to deserve a seat in congress? In which war did he lose a limb or at what time has he ever fought for anyones rights.

What a fake and the bad thing is he will probably get elected just because he was on TV.

Beyond the paragraph about the environment on his "issues" page, he certainly sounds like a typical modern day Republican to me. He's yet another advocate for the government should building a massive military but leaving everything else to be done by the corporations once we rid them of the horrid tax burdens and regulations imposed on them.

i actually almost never hear about foreign policy views of most of these with an Indian background. usually they are just right wing ass lickers and their big issues are tax cuts and cutting funds for programs for people in need.

36. Same story - ethno religious centric behavior and power seekers

The key note about all the Indian American's presently going into US politics at any high profile level is:

1. They are all of Hindu heritage, yet aligning with the Republicans! so what gives? There is a reason for this.. We have yet to see any Muslim Indian American heritage types take up the challenge within US politics, but maybe Ayesha Khan at American's United For Seperation of Church & State. Note, there are over 300 million Muslims and many other minorities in India.

2. So, you would think being Hindu American, or from such background, especially in today's America, you would be naturally attracted to the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Alas, the assumption that these candidates are more lowly pure power seekers who simply follow the party line of the BJP type thinking and thus line up nicely with "Christian" Facists and the present ideology of the Republicans. If these candidates had a soul for struggle of the common man or those who have suffered the discrimantion that we are so known for they would go Democrat. Obama is a perfect example of at least the heart leading with teh right intention...whether he will survive in the posh pit of our corrupt system...who knows. I know a number of Hindu Americans who are vehemently pro-Democrat....all are anti-BJP.

Very un-PC analysis, I know...but if it quacks like a duck, looks like a duck...

Indian Americans, of any natural persuasion who understand the true injustices in this country, would, at this time, be attracted to the pluralism of the Democrats ideal. The only way I could see one going against this are the relative new BJP nationalists who have attemped to fuse Hinduism with Indian nationalism much like the the "Christian" right has done here at home. Their ideologies are exactly the same, and meet up in a foreign policy nexus of the same order

NJOY!

37. Jindal is a Catholic
though by conversion. he grew up a Hindu though.

is Bhakta a Hindu ?

also understand that these guys grew up in the United States so they didn't really face the whole caste thing in India. these guys are like most Republicans, just a bunch of greedy selfish assholes who want to just enrich themselves. i don't think it has anything to do with the BJP other than maybe having similar conservative views you would see from any nation.

there aren't really any Muslims going into politics at any level in either party from what i understand.
