Zawahri urges attacks over cartoons
Al-Qaeda's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri called for strikes on the West similar to attacks in recent years on New York, Washington, Madrid and London, according to an audio tape posted on the Internet.

The speaker on the tape, who sounded like Zawahri, also urged Muslims to boycott Denmark, Norway, France and Germany over cartoons deemed offensive to Prophet Mohammed, referring to cartoons first published in a Danish newspaper.

Al-Zawahri said offences against Prophet Mohammed were part of a "crusader" campaign led by the United States, according to the audio tape.

"An example of the hatred of the crusaders led By America ... are the repeated offences against the personality of the Prophet Mohammed, may peace be upon him," said the speaker.

2. I'm getting real tired of this "posted to the Internet" crap
Just once, will the media tell us specifically what URLs these videos are being posted at? Then, we can investigate the domain registrations and such.

Unless, of course, there's something in them that somebody doesn't want us to discover.

Bin Laden's No. 2 condemns Mohammed cartoons
New video also congratulates Palestinian Hamas victory

Saturday, March 4, 2006; Posted: 8:06 p.m. EST (01:06 GMT)
(CNN) -- In a videotape broadcast Saturday, Osama bin Laden's No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahiri, condemned published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that have sparked violent protests throughout the Muslim world.
........

........

The cartoons initially were published September 30 by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten. They were reprinted earlier this year in several newspapers whose editors argued publication of the cartoons is a matter of free speech. Several Arab nations began boycotting Danish goods.

........

Al-Zawahiri also congratulated Hamas for its January victory in parliamentary Palestinian elections, toppling the Fatah Party, which had dominated Palestinian politics for decades.

........

He also referred to recently discovered photos of abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison. (Full story)

4. this tape is recent that is for sure.

.....Al-Zawahiri also congratulated Hamas for its January victory in parliamentary Palestinian elections, toppling the Fatah Party, which had dominated Palestinian politics for decades.

"I would like to tell my brothers in Hamas to fight on and not to accept agreements between the Palestinian Authority and Israel," al-Zawahiri said, according to a CNN translation.

"Reaching power is not a goal by itself ... and no Palestinian has the right to give away a grain of the soil. The seculars in the Palestinian Authority have sold out Palestine for crumbs. ... Giving them legitimacy is against Islam," he said. He urged the Palestinians to "get back what is yours.
