PORTSMOUTH, N.H. Don't expect to hear President Bush's State of the Union speech in Market Square in Portsmouth (New Hampshire) this evening.

Critics of the president plan to make a loud statement, saying public silence is a statement of consent.Seacoast Peace Response is holding a rally during the speech and inviting people to come and make noise by blowing car horns, banging drums, playing music ... whatever.Former state Senator Burt Cohen, one of the organizers, says people can't afford to be quiet. He says the group objects to the president's handling of the war in Iraq, terrorism, government spying and other issues.(9 p.m., Market Square)
