CBS/AP: Kennedy Leads Final Effort to Block Alito

(AP) Liberal Democrats waged an eleventh-hour attempt Monday to block Samuel Alito's Supreme Court confirmation, arguing that he would tilt the high court further to the right.

GOP Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island also announced that he would vote against Alito's confirmation. Chafee, a self-described "pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-Bill of Rights Republican," is the only member of the Republican Party so far to announce that he will vote against the conservative judge.

3. If he's so pro-Bill of Rights, he should vote no on cloture.
That would be the real stand up thing to do.

4. We must be winning:
When it was a "Quxotic gesture" it was Kerry, with a chance to succeed it was "Kerry". Of course, Kerry always said it was his senior colleague and friend and himself and Kennedy always said it was Kerry and him.
