Sen. Clinton to support Alito filibuster, press secretary says
RAW STORY

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) will support Sen. John Kerry's effort to filibuster Bush Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, RAW STORY has confirmed.

Philippe Reines, press secretary to Sen. Clinton, confirmed the senator's position in an email message Friday.

"Senator Clinton will vote against cloture, thereby supporting the filibuster of Judge Alito’s nomination," Reines said.

8. Thank you, Senator. And you, too, Senator Schumer.
At least the NY senators still have their heads screwed on straight on this issue.

10. Kudos to Kerry, Kennedy, Feingold for being ahead of the curve
and forcing some Democrats to confront an issue they did not want to address, Alito's extremist views on the Presidency.

“I support a filibuster of Judge Alito’s nomination. Judge Alito’s confirmation would be an ideological coup on the Supreme Court. We can’t afford to see the Court’s swing vote, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, replaced with a far-right ideologue like Samuel Alito.

“Judge Alito will take America backward, especially when it comes to civil rights and discrimination laws. His record speaks for itself. Rather than live up to the promise of ‘equal justice under the law,’ Judge Alito has consistently made it harder for Americans to have their day in court. He routinely defers to the power of the government, no matter how extreme. And he doesn’t believe women have a right to privacy that’s protected by the Constitution.

“The President has every right to nominate Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. It’s our right and our responsibility to oppose him vigorously and to fight against this radical upending of the Supreme Court.”

11. She is my Senator, but
I got no email from her. I have written to her on this. I DID get emails from both Kennedy and Kerry on the filibuster.

Understand why those of us who live in her State are so "disappointed" with her?

14. Good! Failure to support a filibuster is a COWARDs way of voting
FOR Alito given the current dynamics. Good for Hillary.
