Fists fail to fly in battle over Supreme Court seats
http://www.newsobserver.com/114/story/388289.html

Margaret Talev, Mcclatchy Washington Bureau

...

But at Alito's confirmation hearings this week, activists seemed sapped of venom, and seats in the room were often empty...

Groups opposing Alito reject the idea that they haven't put up the sort of fight they promised donors.

"Both sides are spending enough money to get the message out there," Neas said. "The really important thing is the grass-roots message."

Pollsters and scholars, however, say these explanations gloss over deeper truths: Voters' low interest level in the Supreme Court, the nature of the individual nominees and of modern confirmation hearings, and the Republican dominance of the White House and Congress, have made it so difficult for opposition groups to get traction that pouring millions into these campaigns is of questionable value.

1. The filibuster is dead.
Not killed by nuke. Killed by people who fear to use it when it needs to be used.

RIP

(May I be proven wrong.)

2. Funny- Laura Bush said dems were disrespectful and uncivil
amd Bomgardner fled in tears. Why? - if there was no "fight"

4. Once again the Dems show the world why they have a spineless
reputation. All bark and all hat. At this rate we won't be able to hold onto a library seat in New York City. Seriously time for a 3rd Party. Alito has shown he has no respect for women or women's rights, what more do these spineless Dem "leaders" need?
