Israel shuns Pat Robertson
Tourism Ministry calls off deal with Robertson following comments by U.S. Evangelical leader claiming Sharon illness due to 'God'

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3198541,00.html

<snip>

"Israel won't do business with Pat Robertson after the U.S. Christian Evangelist said Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's massive stroke was divine punishment for Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, an official said Wednesday, placing a USD 50 million deal with the Christian leader in doubt.

Robertson, a Christian broadcaster, is leading a group of evangelicals who have collected money to build a Christian Heritage Center in Israel's northern Galilee region, where tradition says Jesus lived and taught.

Israel was to provide the land and infrastructure for the project, saying it would bring millions of tourism dollars into the country. But the project now is in doubt in light of Robertson's comments, said Ido Hartuv, spokesman for Tourism Minister Avraham Hirschson.

"We will not do business with him, only with other evangelicals who don't back these comments," Hartuv said. "We will do business with other evangelical leaders, friends of Israel, but not with him."

1. Israel knows that Robertson is really just an anti-Semite
He thinks all the Jews are going to hell, and Robertson only supports Israel in international affairs because it fits into that whole "Rapture" plan.

2. I am almost grateful to Pat Robertson . . . seriously
After all, those words came tumbling out of his own mouth. The damn fool. What did he expect? The Israelis to kiss his ass b/c of his words? LOL

I truly hope that Robertson continues his rants! Go, Pat, go!! Show the world who you truly are, Pat.

Officials angry over evangelical leader's comments about Sharon's stroke
Updated: 8:14 a.m. ET Jan. 11, 2006

JERUSALEM - Israel won't do business with Pat Robertson after the evangelical leader suggested Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's massive stroke was divine punishment, a tourism official said Wednesday, putting into doubt plans to develop a large Christian tourism center in northern Israel.

Avi Hartuv, spokesman for Israel's tourism minister, said officials are furious with Robertson's suggestion that the stroke was retribution for Sharon's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip last summer. "We can't accept this kind of statement," Hartuv said.

Robertson is leading a group of evangelicals who have pledged to raise $50 million to build the Christian Heritage Center in Israel's northern Galilee region, where tradition says Jesus lived and taught.

"We will not do business with him, only with other evangelicals who don't back these comments," Hartuv said. "We will do business with other evangelical leaders, friends of Israel, but not with him."

Especially when you are using them as props in some dumbass Bronze Age puppetshow made up of equal parts megalomania and "Davey and Goliath" reruns.

Further proof that endless streams of free money rolling in for no goods provided or services rendered make you a really shitty businessman.

18. True. In related bad news:
Pat Robberson's Christian Coalition is having some money problems lately. I've read that they are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Looks like Robberson isn't such a good money manager. Or maybe he's too good.....

That would explain why Robberson has that diamond mine in Africa.....those race horses which bring in that Kentucky $$$Gold$$$.

This company's contributions have seriously dried up. Maybe it's God smiting Pat?

29. Israel Suspends Contact With Pat Robertson
JERUSALEM - Israel has suspended contact with evangelist Pat Robertson for suggesting Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine punishment for withdrawing from the Gaza Strip.

The controversy has cast doubt on plans for a Christian tourism center that would showcase the growing flow of money and influence from U.S. church groups.

The decision, announced Wednesday by Israeli officials, does not affect other Christian groups that also consider it their spiritual duty to support Israel as fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Israeli leaders see the Christian allies as tireless lobbyists in Washington and elsewhere. The evangelicals also funnel millions of dollars each year to Jewish settlers in the West Bank and — before last year's pullout — the Gaza Strip.
