New spills hit Chinese rivers
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4595168.stm

Chinese authorities are scrambling to deal with two more toxic spills polluting the country's rivers.
Officials said water supplies were safe despite the spills, which hit rivers in central and eastern China.

The new alerts came as China was still struggling to deal with two earlier major toxic spills which left millions of people without drinking water.

Correspondents say the spills have focused attention on how polluted China's rivers have become.

In one of the two new cases, a botched environmental clean-up resulted in cadmium polluting a 100km stretch of the Xiangjiang river in central Hunan province.

China better learn how to protect their environment or they will pay a huge price of poisoning its people!!!

1. This is going to be the issue
of the 21st century. If one country pollutes and causes problems to a neighboring country, they will declare war on each other.

That's how serious this is. Because it's only going to get worse.

2. I totally agree cause Drinking Water is going to be an issue
and China hasn't a clue at what a environment protection agency is and why for a country's future it is needed ...

3. dont knock China man
Im over here and I gotta say they are paying A LOT more attention to it than others. China basically razed its entire forest system in the Great Leap Forward and since the floods/doughts/erosion etc that followed, they have learned a lesson and they are working at fixing it. Its slow and underfunded, but they are making progress. Dont get me wrong, their environment is still a freaking mess but they are trying. Thats more than I can say for our current government ("WHAT global warming!?")

4. Their biggest problem right now...
...is that they've got all of this outdated and poorly-built infrastructure in their chemical and other heavy industries. They'll continue to have problems like this until they finish replacing all of it.
