Another primary challenge for DeLay
A Sugar Land attorney is latest to file for 22nd District race

SUGAR LAND - A 50-year-old attorney from Sugar Land has filed to run against U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay for the 22nd District in the Republican primary in March.

Thomas A. Campbell, who specializes in environmental law, is the third Republican challenger to take on DeLay, who has held the post since 1985.

Campbell paid the filing fee of $3,125 to the Texas Republican Party in Austin on Wednesday and entered his name in the race.

"We need to return some decency and civility to the way we conduct the public's business," Campbell said.

Campbell said he found it has become increasingly difficult for him to vote for DeLay, who was indicted in September and October on charges related to campaign finances. DeLay has since stepped down as House majority leader.

5. I feel sorry for this guy for what he's about to go through
He's going to be portrayed as a gay, communist, devil-worshiping child molester who spends his free time spitting on statues of Jesus and sodomizing stray dogs while kicking old ladies and setting toddlers on fire. Good luck to him even though he kind of sounds like a jackass too.

7. Not to worry
hastert is holding off doing the people's business until the end of January for slime delay, I'm sure the bugman will do a last minute save to endear him to the black hearted texas reptiles. Maybe build a road to nowhere for Sugarland, or an airport of something.

8. From the Houston Press article on Mr Campbell
In 1989, President George H.W. Bush appointed Campbell to serve as general counsel for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He was on the job for a matter of months when the Exxon Valdez dumped millions of gallons of crude oil into Prince William Sound off the Alaskan coast. Campbell led negotiations for what was then the largest environmental settlement in history. He has since entered private practice as a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, inducing oil and mining companies to rebuild natural habitats harmed by their activities.

Campbell wears his environmentalism on his sleeve. Since moving with his family to Sugar Land 12 years ago, he can be seen driving around town in a cherry-red Toyota Prius. "I'm a conservationist," he says. "I'm very proud to be a conservationist."

Not bad for a Republican--certainly better than DeLay.

9. 3 Republicans running
against DeLay in the primaries sounds like an attempt to water down the field, thereby guarranteeing DeLay will at least win the primary.

I'd like to see one strong candiate take on DeLay, then there would be a better chance of defeating him.
