U.S. Rep. Boozman returns from visit to Iraq
By Gary Lookadoo Staff Writer [email protected]

FAYETTEVILLE — Just returned Dec. 23 from a trip to Iraq, U.S. Rep. John Boozman, R-Ark., believes morale is high among American troops and that progress is being made in the American war effort.

Boozman made a pre-Christmas visit to Iraq. He visited Israel and other nations during the trip.

Seeing Iraq firsthand helped him understand the political/military situation there and gave him a chance to express appreciation to American troops there, Boozman said. "We went to Iraq to find out what was going on as far as the effort to win the war and get our troops out of there as quickly as possible. The other thing we wanted to do was pat the troops on the back, especially the Arkansas troops, and tell them how proud we are of them, and that we haven’t forgotten them. I think they appreciate us being there," Boozman said. "We were at a Marine base west of Baghdad. We visited with troops there and then went into Baghdad and visited with troops there."

The group he was with also visited troops in Kuwait and at a hospital in Germany. There weren’t any injured Arkansans to visit but Boozman did visit with soldiers who had been injured and evacuated from Iraq within the previous two days. "Morale was very high among them. That was all very encouraging," he said.

He learned a lot about the situation on the ground from troops and others, Boozman said. "The other (reason for the trip) is to have a frank discussion as to how they feel the war is going, and all of them felt like there is significant improvement. (Also) we visited with the general in charge of overseeing the training of the Iraqi troops and police. And he felt that that effort was going very, very well," Boozman said.

2. So....
He got in a car, and drove out of the Green Zone and did a little tour of Baghdad right?
Had a cup of coffee with the locals and maybe did a little lunch right?
Then he got in a hum-vee and went to Takrit and Fallujah and hung with the troops right?

Right, right...

8. He planned to do just that, but time was limited...
and he had to settle for viewing the heavly edited DVD showing all the 'good' work we're doing over there between all the bamboozle briefings he attended.

3. I'm sure they're SOOOO grateful!
"The other thing we wanted to do was pat the troops on the back ..."

Yeah, why would a soldier in a combat zone want body armour when he can have a 'pat on the back' instead?

7. "There weren't any injured Arkansans". No photo-op, heh, John?
Go fuck yourself, pig.

When the jerkoff politicos used to grace us with their presence in Vietnam we would plan all matter of mayhem for those opportunistic bastards. Never did anything but it was fun to fantasize.

They would normally come to Yokuska, Japan, to visit us in hospital. Then they would go home and spout all this jingoistic flagwaving bullshit.

I have the greatest John Warner story ever.

11. Thanks for your service!
I'd love to hear the John Warner story, if you feel like telling it, of course! :-)

And we're supposed to believe anything these liars say, when each and every day we discover more 'reporters' who have to resign because they were paid to spin the news for this administration? Two more this week, paid this time by Abramoff!!

Then we learned about Rep. Ney (Rep) being handed the words he put into the Congressional Record by Kidan and Abramoff. That sounded convincing at the time also, except now we know that the man Abramoff and Kidan wanted thrashed in the Congressional Record was murdered, and that both those Republicans have now admitted to fraud and lies and to using the Congressional Record to scare a business associate in order to buy the murdered man's Casino business.

Sure, I believe anything coming out of the mouth of a Republican that promotes their agenda!!

I haven't been to Iraq, so I don't know, but from the numerous articles from both sides and internationally that I've read it seems that the basic elements for the citizens have not been met such as clean water, electricity, and jobs.

oh...there is a whole population of people just as bad off living in Arkansas?...oh...I guess to him the progress is fantastic!

13. Boozman is my conman
and he will always answer my letters, sometimes with a personal note. Those notes always tell me basically that I don't know what I'm talking about, that the US and Bush are wonderful, and everything is going swimmingly. So what he says here is no surprise.

18. Mine too, unfortunately...
and he is one of the bigger idiots I have ever met. Talk to the man for 5 minutes and you either have the urge to sleep or beat your head on concrete.

His office staff is also uniquely staffed with the brain dead and ditzy.

24. I know what you mean
I've often thought of staging a political action (like presenting a petition, etc) at one of his district offices, but I don't think the staff would understand what it was. Do they sigh when you call them on the phone? One of his staffers sighs audibly whenever I call.

17. God, that name (shakes head).
Boozman? It's almost a little too easy so I'll skip the name.

"My name is John Booze-man and this is a paid endorsement". I went to Iraq on taxpayer money. I was told ahead of time to Paint a Rosy Picture so the Americans will feel better about this horrible failure.

We took some photos, and I'll be posting them on my web site. But first, my assistant has to use Adobe Photoshop to fix the pictures. The bombed-out apartment buildings and the holes in the street will be gone so it'll take a day or two.

I was paid about $200,000 for making Iraq sound wonderful. And believe me, it is. For me, that is."

19. I guess this means he never got out of the Green Zone or a U.S. base
"In a sign of progress, parts of Iraq that had not long before been dangerous are now places to relax, Boozman said.

But problems remain. Travel in some areas is still very dangerous, and in some locations Boozman didn’t ask to meet with specific people out of concern for their safety, he said."

A quick parsing of the lies: There were no bombs in the Green Zone that day ("places to relax"), but he made no trips outside heavily sheltered areas ("travel...still very dangerous") and no locals would bother meeting with him ("didn't ask to meet...out of concern for their safety").
