4 US soldiers killed in western Iraq
4 US soldiers killed in western Iraq (#2167)

www.chinaview.cn 2005-12-24 21:42:26

FALLUJAH, Iraq, Dec. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Four U.S. soldiers were killed when their vehicle was run over by an Iraqi truck outside Iraq's western flashpoint city of Fallujah early on Saturday, a police source told Xinhua.

"An Iraqi truck ran over a US Humvee parking near a checkpoint at the southern entrance of Fallujah, killing four U.S. soldiers aboard," the source said on condition of anonymity.

It was not clear whether the Iraqi truck driver premeditatedly hit the US Humvee, the source added.

The US military did not confirm the incident yet.

The Sunni-dominated Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, has witnessed sporadic insurgent attacks against the U.S. and Iraqi government forces despite U.S.-Iraqi military operations in the city to stem out violence.

15. I'd bet $$$
That the soldiers were 'over run', not "run-over".

Perception management at work.

5. Stack em higher than the tallest Christmas tree

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

Carl Sandburg

Merry Christmas Amerikans
You're GOP Masters at work

7. Every day we stay in Iraq is a day in which people will die
Nothing short of the complete and immediate withdrawal of all US troops and civilian personnel will do.

11. Christmas heartbreak
for all of their families and friends.

The doorbell rings this time of year and you open it with a smile...but they will get news that will change their lives forever.

They will have phone calls to make and more hearts will break.
I am so sorry for all those grieving. (Here and there)

What is that noble cause again?
Oh right, get rid of the dictator of a secular nation. The fundamentalist Islamics will keep the women in their place now.

I agree that a trick running over a Humvee sounds too strange. Runs INTO is what you'd expect to hear. But over?

12. The only news agency reporting this is Xinhua
the Chinese state news agency. Prensa Latina, the Cuban state news agency is reporting it, too, but it looks like the Xinhua story even though they didn't cite it.

It's now nearly 10 hours since this was first posted.

I wonder if this really happened.

13. That's dandy. Now they kill the soldiers and "maybe" it's an accident.
Four soldiers in the Humvee doesn't sound like an "accident" to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm thinking someone saw an opportunity and took advantage of it.

Christmas will never be the same for the families of those troops, nor for any of their comrades. Damn.

14. RTA's have caused a lot of non-combat casualties already.
Doesn't mean the poor sods are less dead, my heart goes out to their folks.

16. Deja Vu all over again:
Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you try to read the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again

Day by day I hear the voices rising
Started with a whisper like it did before
Day by day we count the dead and dying
Ship the bodies home while the networks all keep score

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Could your eyes believe the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again

One by one I see the old ghosts rising
Stumblin' 'cross Big Muddy
Where the light gets dim
Day after day another Momma's crying
She's lost her precious child
To a war that has no end

Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you stop to read the writing at The Wall
Did that voice inside you say
I've seen this all before
It's like Deja Vu all over again
It's like Deja Vu all over again

17. Reminds me of a U.S. tank crushing an Iraqi car a while back
That car had occupants, that were killed. It was parked on the side of the road. The story just stated that the tank drove away.

Maybe this was retribution, assuming the story holds up.
