Judge Weighs Order to Release Two at Gitmo
WASHINGTON - A federal judge is considering ordering the release of two Chinese Muslims held at Guantanamo Bay, which would be an unprecedented step in the legal battles surrounding the Bush administration's treatment of detainees.

U.S. District Judge James Robertson raised the possibility, eight months after the U.S. military found the two men were not enemy combatants.

A Justice Department lawyer told the judge at a hearing this week that the Bush administration is still trying to find a country that will take the ethnic Uighurs, who say they fear torture or death if they are returned to China. The Uighurs are Turkic-speaking Muslims in western China, who have a language and culture distinct from the majority Chinese.

"We are going nuts here. Why are we still here? What kind of law exists in America to allow this to happen?" court papers in the case quote one of the detainees as saying.

2. They won't have to...
No court in the land has a judge sitting in it that is willing to commit political suicide by standing up to the Bush junta. Only a fool or a dittohead pisses into the wind. Lest we forget, judges too are politicians (at that level) and are subject to the same pressures to "perform" for the prevailing winds as any other politician. The military will have no recourse but to comply, in the unlikely event that the judge does the decent thing. These American gulags and concentration camps are immoral, illegal and well... not to put too fine a point on it... evil. Shit. Combating evildoers, much like regime change, begins at home. The world didn't change on 9/11. WE did. We looked to our "leaders" and chimpula lead us down the primrose path straight to hell, bludgeoning us with the 9/11 dead every tortured step of the way like some manic orc chieftain from Lord Of The Rings, until the American sheeple began to allow him to use it to excuse just about anything. ("Bed and breakfast at Guantanamo... understand? Now shag it!!) We are no longer the good guys. Until this neo-con coup d'etat is squelched, we're going to continue to bog down in evil until, perhaps, we can no longer extricate ourselves. Be vociferous, be active, and be proud. The "White Rose" society will have it's next incarnation here in America if things keep going the way they are.
