WP/AP: 11 Iraqi Soldiers Killed in Attack
11 Iraqi Soldiers Killed in Attack
The Associated Press
Saturday, December 3, 2005; 6:58 AM

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Eleven Iraqi soldiers were killed and two wounded Saturday when a roadside bomb detonated next to their convoy and they were ambushed by insurgents, an army officer said.

The attack took place near Adhaim area, about 60 miles north of Baghdad, said the officer, who asked not to be identified for security reasons.

The report follows the announcement of a roadside bombing that killed 10 Marines and wounded 11 others on a foot patrol near Fallujah....

3. What have I become?
I read this, and then read it again, and heave a sigh that the dead soldiers weren't Americans.

What have I become? Where has my humanity gone?

5. It is pretty early in the morning to be worrying about your
humanity, I am still worrying about my coffee. Don't feel too guilty, all this shit is too weird to process, the human mind is not meant to have to handle it.

Did you see Homecoming on Showtime last night?

7. Now that you mention it,
I didn't really enjoy the coffee this morning.

I'll take your word for it, since it all seems too hard to ..... ah, you know.

No, I didn't see "Homecoming," but we have On Demand, so I suppose it's tucked in there, under Showtime.

What is it?

I think I'll go shoe shopping. That's always a zinger in terms of humanity.

9. You HAVE to see it. A zombie movie that puts it to BushCo
big time. The producers will probably end up in Gitmo. There are a number of threads on it. Who's we? Keep dropping these clues...

10. Oh, man.........
I looked it up. Yes, yes, it does look like something I'll be viewing in the not-too-distant-future. Although, in truth, whenever I think of zombies, I think of "Night Of The Living Dead," and then, naturally, I think of my first husband..............

Maybe I should have written "oui"?

Coffee didn't get any better.

11. Please post or pm me your thoughts about Homecoming. Trust
me, it kicks ass. Best hour I spent with TV since early election evening in 2004 when Novak and Carlson were despondent about the returns.

Your first husband doesn't get many compliments from you. Is your comment about the living dead directed to his sexual prowess? Did you see my one question marriage/divorce test? I bet he didn't pass. Today is the 28th anniversary of my second marriage. Never did I have that thought about this one. I think, however, that in my drinking days, long past, she had that thought about me more than once.

12. Hey,
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

That's a nice, long stretch you got going on. Congratulations to both of you. The second one is always the triumph of hope over experience, as that guy said, but it's also work. Hard work, and not everyone's good at it, so I salute you.

Ah, yes, the pillow test. I never really thought about a pillow, because I knew, from my time as a prosecutor, how long it takes to smother someone, and I never really wanted to be THAT involved with him.

We were, though, once in a bad car accident (his fault) in which we skidded and flipped and ended up hanging upside down, held in place by our seat belts. I looked over at him - he wasn't moving. I thought, "Great! It'll save me the trouble of a divorce."

But, sure, of course, because I never get a break, he moved. He was fine.

Seriously, what a wonderful run. Congratulations.

I'm going to check On Demand and Showtime's schedule, and I sure will let you know what I think of "Homecoming." Thanks for the heads-up.
