    1. it will lead to McCain furthering himself from Bush
probably winning the GOP nomination in '08 and unfortunately, probably winning the election.

    3. why?
Edited on Tue Nov-22-05 11:09 AM by still_one
McCain wants to send more troops to Iraq. He is NOT for a withdrawl

Doesn't it depend who the Democrats put up in 2008?

    4. McCain has a reputation as a "moderate" and the media loves him
and even on this forum there are lots of people who actually buy the bull about McCain being a reasonable republcan. If you don't think McCain would be difficult to beat I have a bridge for you to buy.

    13. Show me that bridge of yours
Only a religious nut can get a Repuke nomination AND a good turnout of the base. McCain won't cut it. As for the Dems, his pic hugging Chimpy should do the trick.

    17. here are my reasons
Edited on Tue Nov-22-05 11:54 AM by still_one
    1. The freepers hate his guts. They WILL NOT support him
    2. The minorites remember that he voted against making Martin Luther King a holiday
    3. The majority of people at DU DO NOT support him or believe he is a reasonable republican. They know he is extremely conservative. The few positive comments you find, do not indicate they would support him, they just happen to agree with one or two things he did

Labor will come back to the Democrats. They have been burned badly by the repukes, and they won't forget it. That is the big block of votes that we need

Most important, the neocons and PNAC have destroyed their party. It will be very difficult for them to take it back. If we win the house in 2006, the momentum is with us for 2008, and as long as we choose a reasonible candidate, we will win.

Look at McCains voting record. He has supported the administration on almost everything. He even endorsed the bastard after he trashed his wife and family. This will come back and haunt him.

I personally believe the repukes will choose Hagel

But it's aready been decided by the pugs and the msm, that we're getting Hillary!

The worst of it is, that I'd have to support her--regardless of my personal feelings.

    20. My first comment was sarcasm!
Whenever (though rarely these days) I watch a bit of msm political shows--Hillary is being pushed as the likely dem. candidate for 2008. This started almost immediately after the last stolen election. I resent this bitterly and therefore boycott the lying msm, except for the late night comic shows.
I used to like the Clintons when Bill was prez, but have been bitterly disappointed by both since their budding relationship with Bushco began. Although I understand the politics behind it all, I wish to see someone in Office who can distance them self from these criminals.

Give me Clark, (Conyers I wish), Boxer, Kerry, Hackett or half a dozen other good dems, who stand on principle and tell truth to power!

    14. One mental case in the WH
is enough for one lifetime. It will take years to clean up the mess Bush has created. McCain isn't the one to do it. Absolutely sick and tired of unstable politicians ruining our lives.

    7. Thanks, McCain-I don't agree with him re: adding troops but at least
he's trying to get at the truth of the pre-war intelligence or lack thereof.

    12. Really? I don't think he's trying at all. He's already accused
people who say the admin lied, of lying themselves. Sounds like he's already "decided," instead of trying to actually find the truth.

    25. Applauding McCain's ability to dance on a sword's edge.
Having no gift for duplicity, I couldn't be a politician. Churchill accepted Stalin as an ally (offering to put a good word in for the devil if he would oppose Hitler). It's a mistake to reject McCain as a potential ally because he's a survivor; only survivors can win. We had a great one in Clinton. I'd rather stick with pure ideals but it's not realistic.
