US army confirms accidentally killed civilians

BAQUBA, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. troops opened fire on a crowded minivan north of Baghdad on Monday, fearing a car bomb attack, and killed at least three members of the same family, including a child, the U.S. military and survivors said.

The U.S. army's 3rd Infantry Division confirmed the incident, saying its troops had opened fire after first trying to wave the minivan to a stop and then firing warning shots.

"This is a tragedy," said Major Steve Warren, a spokesman for U.S. forces in Baquba, near where the shooting occurred.

"But these tragedies only happen because Zarqawi and his thugs are out there driving around with car bombs," he added, referring to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a militant leader in Iraq.

- Blamed for the Jordan bombings
- Protests against him in the streets of Jordan
- Disowned by his family
- Blamed for the US's killing of civilians

Has anyone confirmed the world's #1 terra dude/fall guy is still in this plane of existence?

NO

Hey, if I get a speeding ticket I'm blaming this al-Zarqawi dude because he was trying to land on the roof of my vehicle.

I will forfeit jury duty because of my fear of .gov buildings and al-Zarqawi.

6. About 100,000 Iraqi civilians have been "accidently killed" to date....
...which has probably created 5-10 insurgents for each civilian killed.

9. Is it any wonder Iraqis are trying to seek asylum in the UK
To think these folks are worried about insurgents when they REALLY need to be rescued from us...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4454588.stm

A failed Iraqi asylum seeker facing deportation from the UK says he fears he will be killed by the Islamist groups that murdered his wife. Sherzad Jalal says he was previously tortured by the groups who are still active in his home town in Kurdistan where he would be returned.

The Home Office said the group of 15 had been given assistance to "re-establish themselves in Iraq, enabling them to contribute to the rebuilding of their country".

"There is clearly a difficult position in those parts of Iraq most affected by insurgencies but we do not accept this is the case in all areas."

Enforced returns were "taken forward on a case-by-case basis and only to areas assessed to be sufficiently stable and where we are satisfied that the individuals concerned will not be at risk", the Home Office added.

(snip)
I'll bet it has NEVER involved taking their kids with them, along with a whole lot of relatives or neighbors.
