Clark Blasts Bush Administration for Continuing Blame Game
Clark Blasts Bush Administration for Continuing Blame Game
In a speech last night, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice implied that past presidents-Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton-had ignored evidence of growing terrorist threats.

In response to Rice's remarks, General Wesley Clark says:

"Once again, this administration is trying to blame others for what went wrong on their watch. This is yet another example of weak leadership.

The White House was told that Al Qaeda was the biggest threat America faced. They ignored that threat and focused instead on missile defense and other skewed priorities. Even as they blame other administrations for 9/11, they are stonewalling the 9/11 Commission. Instead of blaming others, they should try to figure out what went on between January 20 and September 10, 2001.

This White House consistently fails to take responsibility for what went wrong under its watch, while claiming credit for its supposed successes. Harry Truman used to say the buck stops here. This White House doesn't even know where the buck is. We need new leadership that will make the right choices to make our country secure."

1. Right.
They never take responsibility... it they did, they'd all be fired.

2. Wonder if the 9/11 commission will see results today...
...isn't today their deadline for the White House turning over documentation?

6. I believe today is the Senate intel committee deadline for CIA docs.
But it could be a 911 commission deadline, too. Hell yea, gang up on them.

4. Let's also not forget one important fact..
G.W. put a hiring freeze on the FBI the month after he took office. I was interviewing with the feds at that time and was told that they were hiring 850 agents right away because ranks had to be filled. The next month they told all of us that a hiring freeze was on. It wasn't taken off until Oct. 2001. Huh, wonder why?

5. Clark's not my first choice, but I'm glad he's focusing on this.
All of the Dems need to harp on this...there are so many examples of this bunch of liars passing the buck to anyone and everyone, they shouldn't run out of ammo, ever.

POINT IT OUT GUYS AND GALS!!!

12. Kerry/Clark can beat bush*....primarily because many Americans
are nervous about having a military general as the President....a good VP though would be OK....slimy military general colin powell pretty much wrecked the idea of military people in civilian high power positions...

Kerry would do well to join with Clark....that team would squash the shrub....

9. This could be a very important quote by Clark...
"Harry Truman used to say the buck stops here. This White House doesn't even know where the buck is. We need new leadership that will make the right choices to make our country secure."

Also, instead of trying to blame others, they should be trying to figure out what went on between january 20th and Sept 10th, 2001. That is a powerful message for the Democrats because it calls into question the leadership of this Administration and their capacity to prevent another attack.

10. Apparently the Bush Admin still doesn't give a shit.
<snip>

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- With a deadline looming, the White House is reacting coolly to the Senate Intelligence Committee's demand for documents relating to pre-war intelligence on Iraq, saying they already have cooperated even though they are not bound to do so by law."

13. I agree
The idea that Bush is weak on national security is an idea that needs to get out there.
