US Troops Clash with Rioters in Baghdad

<snip>BAGHDAD, Iraq - American troops clashed with rioters carrying Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s picture Friday in a Baghdad suburb, and a heavy smoke billowed from the mayor's office in a city west of the capital following a strong explosion. The melee at Abu Ghraib, some 10 miles west of Baghdad, apparently broke out when coalition forces tried to open up a road that had been partly blocked by market stalls.

<snip>
Shots rang out when the troops began pushing back the stalls and people started hurling stones at police cars, police officer Faleh Hussein said. One policeman was injured, he said.

The marketplace was closed and about 200 youths hurled stones at some of a half-dozen U.S. Army tanks and other armored vehicles that arrived to back up the infantrymen. Tires burned in the streets, set alight by protesters who waved pictures of Saddam and chanted "Allahu Akbar!" — "God is great!"

4. I have no doubt that they already know, but
they will milk it for every dollar they can, and then leave it to us (the murkin people) to pick up the pieces, while they lounge around in Crawfish on the pig farm laughing at our stupidity in letting them get away with it.

5. We bungled this whole operation
Although I still say we should never have gone into Iraq in the first place. Since we did, why in blazes didn't they immediately secure the area, protecting antiquities, turning ON power and water, etc. etc? Why didn't the Pentagon have people who knew about Islamic culture teaching the troops about the ways of Iraq so we could win hearts and minds? Why have Administration officials from the President on down made stupid comments about "crusades" or like that crazy general, say that God (in Arabic, Allah) is an idol?

I'm a simple Midwestern lady who has never set foot overseas (but I have gone to Canada twice), but I have enough sense to know that this is what needed to be done. Of course, I had enough sense to protest the whole mess before it started because I had a feeling this is what was going to happen.

6. No, no...those people were Al Qaeda operatives that were drawn...
...into the open by the superior tactical operations of the American liberation forces. No doubt most of them have Syrian and Iranian passports along with their packet of orders directly from Osama.

8. Every day it's a new bid for sympathy by Bush Administration

who has lost all support for this deadly invasion. First the American
people are told "it's foreign invaders", then "it's Syrian Terrorists",
then "it's all Iran's fault", then "it's Saddam loyalists", now "it's
Saddam himself" who is directing all of the chaos. Bush still gives
speeches citing Saddam's connection with 911--which has been proven
false. Lies, and the lying liars--as the book title proves.

The American people are not listening any more.

10. LOL, media-lies-daily!
Undoubtedly Condi is working on a press release to just that effect to be trumpeted out across the whole of the Party Loyal Right-Wing Sub-Media and it's willing parasitized and zombified slave, Corproate TV Pravda.

The Busheviks have nearly rendered irony obsolete, now that we ALL live in Comrade Bushevik's Animal Farm...

and other sad events in Iraq today....

<snip>"The police tried to contain the protest, the protesters opened fire and a policeman was killed," said police Major Mussa Lazem.

After a three-hour interlude, gunfire erupted again as US armoured vehicles moved into the area and opened fire.

According to medic Abbas Jassim three civilians were killed and at least 10 wounded.

Earlier the same day, two US soldiers were wounded in a grenade attack at the market, according to US army Lieutenant Joseph Harrisson.

9. Is BushCo Counting On...
Edited on Fri Oct-31-03 01:56 PM by jokerman2004
the restricted media in Amerikaland to keep negative reactions and dissent at minimal levels until election time?

If so, no wonder Bush is visibly shaken and appears more desperate all the time. He's got a whole year to go and they've lost control in Iraq -- if they ever had it to begin with.

And then I think -- there's nothng more dangerous than desperate criminals trying to establish a fascist christian regime through war and propaganda...

(The operative word here is desperate.)

on edit: typos
