Azahari killed in police raid (the Bali bomber)

INDONESIA'S "Demolition Man" and the brains behind a string of terrorist attacks including the Bali blasts and the Australian Embassy bombing has reportedly blown himself up after he was tracked down by police following a three-year manhunt.

Malaysian bomb mastermind Dr Azahari Husin apparently triggered a bomb killing himself and two accomplices after police surrounded a villa in the East Java hill resort town of Batu, near Malang, local television news stations reported. It is believed another four accomplices of Azahari died at the scene.

A journalist at the site told Indonesian TV he had seen the dismembered body of Azahari.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- Indonesian police have confirmed that one of Southeast Asia's most-wanted militants is dead after blowing himself up.

Azahari Husin, a Malaysian in his late 40s, was believed to be the bomb expert for the Islamic terror network Jemaah Islamiyah, and to have written its bomb manual.

The Australian-educated Azahari is accused of being a mastermind behind the deadly Bali bombings in 2002 and 2005.

Azahari was one of three militants pursued by police to a hideout in eastern Java, Indonesian Police Chief General Sutanto told Indonesian private news station Metro TV on Wednesday.

Sutanto said Azahari's identity was confirmed through fingerprints....

7. Yes, we are lucky, DM M. We've

been going yearly since the mid 90s. That's where I do my X-mas shopping, and just love the place and people, as does my husband (who happens to work for an airline which is how we can afford to do this!). Over 90% of the population in Bali are Hindu, so it seems they just want to kill tourists and wreck the economy. Sadly, mostly Balinese have died in the bombings there, so they're not even accomplishing what I assume they set out to do.
