WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- The Iraqi politician most associated with the discredited prewar intelligence that has the Bush presidency in turmoil visits Washington this week as he maneuvers for advantage before Iraq's December 15 elections.

Ahmed Chalabi, Iraq's deputy prime minister, is a former U.S. golden boy who for years as an exile helped organize opposition to Saddam Hussein through the Iraqi National Congress, which was funded by the United States.

He was taken into Iraq by the American forces, along with an armed group of supporters, as Washington tried to build a new power structure in the weeks after the 2003 invasion. But he soon fell into disfavor, targeted with allegations that he betrayed U.S. secrets to Iran.

---my comment: amazing. I thought he couldn't reenter this country due to espionage?

1. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to arrest the sonofabitch, if not
sooner. This man is also responsible for lost lives, both American and Iraqi. Damn him to hell.

4. *shakes head* I will never understand corruption.
You'd THINK an administration that CLAIMS to be all about national security and who is ramping up to war with IRAN would take a dim view of a double agent working for Iran...

but noooooo...we set him up to run Iraq.

bizarro world.

14. Not Really - The Neo-Con "Ideal" Middle East would be composed of
countries EXACTLY like Saudi Arabia. The rulers of OUR Country LOVE thugs who put down dissent quick and violently. In essence, PNAC Idealists adore monarchs who are THUGS. However, most important, THE INSTALLED THUGS ARE OUR (Pro-USA) THUGS. :puke:

the three stooges promised some really sweet aid to King Abdullah to get him to do that. Maybe they guaranteed his bad debt or some horseshit like that.

15. Ahh. Didn't know that. Makes sense in the scheme of things, I guess. Heard
that he has a lot of business interests now in Irbil, Kurdistan (we pretend it's part of Iraq)...

To be honest, I think he's the slimiest character in this whole debacle.

9. Love how american corporate media
puts the blame on him for starting the war. And the poor little corporate neocon network (CNN) reporters and the rest of the neocon scum were all misled by this one man.

When the revolution comes, the scum at corporate media will be the first ones hanging from the trees.

16. No no no WE (the USA) Loved IRAN when the Shah was in power ...
I should know - My Father, and Active Duty Combat Engineer was sent over to Tehran, Iran as a small contingent to help our ole' buds, the ruling class - family build airports and runways across that FRIENDLY country.

After hearing HORROR stories regarding how the average Iranian Citizens were treated, please don't assume that THE SHAH was any less brutal than Saddam or "the beauties" running Saudi Arabia.

It almost makes me physically ill to consider how brutal these ruling thugs will treat their own countrymen/women ... all in the name of KEEPING ORDER and THE RICH RICHER. :puke:

May the good Lord watch over us - IF or When The Bush Administration declares Marshall Law. Then we will be certain that he is Our Emperor. :scared:
