Restoration Of Power, Gas Should Happen Soon, Bush Says

MIAMI -- President George W. Bush arrived at Miami International Airport midday Thursday, and after the customary handshakes with local and state officials, he took off in Marine One for an aerial tour of storm damage in northern Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

A caravan then took President Bush and the mayors through Pompano to the First Baptist Church. There, he mingled with volunteers from Tennessee who were preparing and serving hot meals.

As he did during visits to the Gulf Coast after Katrina, Bush seemed very much at ease with volunteers, and was seen shaking hands and putting his arm around the shoulders of volunteers and storm victims.

Bush assured South Florida hurricane victims that electricity will soon be restored and that more gasoline is on the way, but he said, "Some things don't happen instantly."
