ABC to Use 3-Anchor Team on 'Nightline'

By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer

ABC will turn to a three-anchor team of Martin Bashir, Cynthia McFadden and Terry Moran to replace Ted Koppel when he leaves "Nightline" next month.

The late-night news program will cover multiple topics and air live each night from studios in New York's Times Square and in Washington.

Goldston envisions the new "Nightline" covering about three topics a night, although that could change in breaking news periods. He tested that approach on the air throughout this summer on nights Koppel was off.

McFadden and Bashir will be based in the same Times Square studio complex used by "Good Morning America." Moran will maintain the Washington presence on a show that has been Washington-based during Koppel's tenure.

1. Not sure Ted is replaceable.
Hope he will chose to do something independent. I'd like to hear what he has to say without network restrictions.

3. did you watch the Studs Terkel interview last week?
I did and I am so glad that Koppel is leaving - he has no credibility left imo.

Have you ever seen him ask William Kristol about his political leanings? No, he just accepts him as an "expert".

Koppel did, however, look at 93 year old Studs Terkel and say:

"You're just an old lefty, aren't you?"

:puke:

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Ted.

5. I used to watch Nightline most every night until
some years ago when during one of the Clinton scandals. Al Gore made a suggestion to Ted about investigating where all the funding was coming from financing the witch hunt against Clinton sort of like that vast right wing conspiracy that Hillary would allude to later. Al was not even present during this particular show, Ted just ended his show that night with a line about how Al had suggested this to him and accused Al of abusing his power, I lost all respect for Ted that night and have not watched his show ever since.
