Mom delivers 16th child, thinking of more

Wednesday, October 12, 2005; Posted: 8:37 p.m. EDT (00:37 GMT)

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their children pose with the 16th addition to the family.

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's children include two sets of twins. Each child's name begins with the letter "J":

Joshua, 17; John David, 15; Janna, 15; Jill, 14; Jessa, 12; Jinger, 11; Joseph, 10; Josiah, 9; Joy-Anna, 8; Jeremiah, 6; Jedidiah, 6; Jason, 5; James, 4; Justin, 2; Jackson Levi, 1

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (AP) -- Michelle Duggar just delivered her 16th child, and she's already thinking about doing it again.

Johannah Faith Duggar was born at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and weighed 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces.

The baby's father, Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative, said Wednesday that mother and child were doing well. Johannah's birth was especially exciting because it was the first time in eight years the family has had a girl, he said.

MY OPINION: First, this is my first Latest Breaking News post. Forgive me if I missed another first post, and go ahead and delete if it it's a dupe.

I can't believe the irresponsibility of this lady. IN a world where the population continues to grow faster than the food supply, she's fine adding to the burden of society to feed, clothed, house, and educate HER children. Everyone's entitled to be a parent, if they so wish, but either we institute a one-child policy (ala China), or at least a two child policy, or we're gonna be in serious trouble.

Someone should staple this woman's legs together, and heavily sedate her (Bill Maher).

And why is it always the most red-neck families that keep adding more Bubbas to our world. What we need. More "the Bible has everything we need" people to go out and vote another George Bush.

3. you don't like Bill?

He's funny as hell. I give him props for his ability to get women of all types (and boy, does he get them!)

I think his decision of living his life is a lot more emotionally satisfying (for him), better to enjoy multiple relationships than become part of the 50% divorce rate or worse, "married" partner slowly rotting away, all first-days excitement of the relationship lone gone. And he's not adding more of a burden to our social system.

As long as he's being moral, consensual, and at the very least loving with his girlfriends (and even the third qualification is not our business), I don't see a problem with it.

Maybe I'm just touchy about it myself because I decided to leave my girlfriend of 4 years to give myself some space to be single. I admit, I'm on a anti-commitment phase at the moment. It just feels unnatural. At least for me, it feels like men are supposed to court women (giving them power from the get go, the power to accept and reject), hope they get picked, have to play a whole series of courting fake games JUST to get their attention, then, when you get the attention, hope you get picked, and then, when you get picked, have to end up forsaking all other women, and for what?

I feel much better alone, and I feel much better not having to bow down to what the girlfriend believes. And it feels much better being able to return the flirts of girls at clubs and bars. It feels so good to go alone and pick up women. I'm more excited than I ever was in my 4 year relationship, as good and COMFORTABLE as it was.

So, props to Bill. Keeping it real for all the men out there, from a former man suffering what he described as, "lives of quiet desperation". Unless I meet a Goddess of a woman, both physically beautifuly, and infinitely loving and stimulating intellectually, I'm gonna stay single, and I applaud him for being single.

6. I love this part...
"We both just love children and we consider each a blessing from the Lord. I have asked Michelle if she wants more and she said yes, if the Lord wants to give us some she will accept them,"

Jesus isn't give you any kids! It's what happens when you and your wife have sex you bone head.

Or have neither of them figured this out yet?

7. I saw a documentary on this family
and they were not relying on the government for anything. I don't know how they afford it all, but part of it is being well organized and watching how they spend their money. But they must have some stashed somewhere cuz even as frugal as they are, it still is very expensive. Also she home schools them. They are very religious and the girls are dressed cute, but covered with bows and ribbons and a whole lot of material.

They house is extremely organized and everyone has their chores and they are all cooperative. It probably runs better than a more contemporary home does.

It is a lot of kids for one family, but they seem to be making it under their own steam and they seem very nice. The documentary focused on their day-to-day activities and included their religion, but it did not push it or promote it. They seem like really good people but not in your face with religion. I don't know, after seeing them and how they live, it works for them and it is not hurting me.

9. 16 children...affording it.
who is gonna pay school costs? Who is gonna pay healthcare? Who is gonna pay their college education?

Somewhere down the line, the government dole is gonna come in, because there is no way in hell a family from Arkansas can afford full tuition costs for all their kids.

I don't object to my taxes being used to help needy people everywhere, but this is the type of crap that "welfare queen" black women get slammed for, and white women just get away with it. This lady does nothing more than "listen for Jesus' advice on children" and then pump out a unit every couple of years. Where's her contribution to society? I'm willing to support everyone having at least 1 or 2 children, and I'll gladly put my taxes to make sure they get healthcare, housing, food, and education. But, don't be crass with the social solidarity, folks. 16 children is a slap in the face to all good-minded, tax-paying people. You're practically telling us, "thanks for the money, suckers".
