President and first lady help ‘Make a Difference'
‘Today’ host Matt Lauer talks to George and Laura Bush about the rebuilding efforts and help deliver a Habitat for Humanity house

NEW YORK CITY — This Tuesday on "Today," President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will spend one hour with the nation's number-one morning program in a special split-show from Covington, LA. The President and the First Lady will sit down for an interview with co-anchor Matt Lauer and then help with the installation of a house that was built last week on "Humanity Plaza" as part of "Today's" "Make a Difference Today" effort to help rebuild the Gulf Coast.

Lauer, the President and the First Lady will join forces with Habitat for Humanity's CEO Jonathan Reckford to deliver the house to Covington's Jacqueline Collins and her son Miami, who lost their house in Hurricane Katrina. "Today" viewers met the Collins family on the Monday, September 26 broadcast when they first learned that they were going to be the recipients of a Habitat for Humanity house.

18. Not reading the Hart-Rudman Report on Global Terror handed to him Jan/2001
certainly made a big difference. Gotta hand it to Bush on that one.

Matt Lauer this morning on Today waxing up his nose for prolonged anal insertion. Remember GW telling him last October that the war in Iraq was not winable. Let's hope GW falls asleep at the wheel again.

9. What a miserable display that will be.
Hazmat teams have replaced National Guard troops in New Orleans. The Guard can not remove the dead due to late stages of decomposition. A national tragedy but all shrub and pickles can do is smile for a photo op. Shame on them and "Today". What a disgrace.

20. He is not helping in any way by going to the Gulf Coast.
In fact, as David Greggory implied, he can do nothing more than BE in the way.

If he wants to help, he should be concentating on getting our troops home ASAP. I think he would find his job much easier once the Iraq ClusterFuck is taken care of properly.

The more he visits the Gulf Coast for these embarrassing photo-ops, the more the American people will see him as shallow.

He has nothing to offer.

Cheers
Drifter

Apparently, the corporate overlords have ordered a massive propaganda effort.

War profiteering GE/NBC is one of the worst.

23. "Today Show" makes me puke! Habitat for the Humanities, indeed!
Or "Plaza for the Humanities" as the Today Show distortingly renamed it. My understanding is that only 108 families (now 109) have been placed in housing thus far...in over a month (with the rest still living in tents, and under armed guard as winter weather sets in.)

Wouldn't it be ironic if THIS recipient family is just as "staged" as that "staged lighting" Shrub flew into New Orleans to backlight that cathedral during his speech several weeks ago...then took away just as quickly when his speech was over...leaving the city "in the dark" again.

Though Shrub DID allocate millions quite quickly to Pakistan. How humane of him.

32. I just saw a piece of this
I really can't stand the photo ops. And Laura basically admitted that's all it was. Lauer asked her if having a photo op of them putting up a wall was worth it. She said "yes, if it inspires Americans to help."

Ewwwwwwwwwww

Now, I'm sorry for saying this, but she looked like hell. Maybe it was bad lighting but her makeup made her look like a ghost and they were shooting her from the left side and I swear there was a line in front of her ear. A scar? or just bad makeup application? I know I know that's so wrong of me.

33. Does this dimwitted fucker even have a JOB?
Here's a clue, Bushie. People weren't pissed because you were not on the Gulf Coast. They were pissed because you weren't even in DC. Going back to the Gulf Coast 30 times in a month doesn't help you there. In fact, it leads us to wonder what it is, exactly, that you're supposed to be doing all day. What the fuck is your JOB?

38. Bush didn't even hold the hammer right
My dad taught me to hold the hammer far down handle, away from the head, to let inertia do the most of the work.

Bush's grip was choked way up near the head, which gives shallow drives of the hammer with no oomph.

Hmm.

Why didn't his dad teach him how to hold a hammer?

Some ranch.
