Dems take aim at GOP spending-cut plan
WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- House Democrats on Thursday blasted a Republican spending cut plan designed to help pay for the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, calling the proposed reductions in health programs draconian.

A group of 89 House conservatives known as the Republican Study Committee had released a proposal Wednesday calling for $102 billion in federal savings in 2006 to help pay for what is estimated to be a years-long cleanup and rehabilitation effort in the Gulf Coast. The plan includes a call to raise $85 billion over 10 years by boosting premiums paid by Medicare beneficiaries, as well as a one-year delay in the start of Medicare's prescription drug benefit, currently due to begin Jan. 1.

Also included is a proposed $25 billion cut over 10 years to the budget of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one of few federal agencies to earn praise for its hurricane response.

"Congress must ensure that a catastrophe of nature does not become a catastrophe of debt for our children and grandchildren," said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., who chairs the study committee.

3. Wow! What a great excuse....
Due to the devastation of the poor areas, we will help them by cutting the few social services they get from us. Ahhhh, Republicanism, you have to love it. :sarcasm:

Have you kicked a poor person today? :grr:

5. Yes....
Jesus was actually mis-quoted. What he once said was, "The Meek could inherit the Earth, if only they would stop being so lazy and work harder, get a job and pull themselves up by their bootstraps." Rove 20:05

"Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Just while your here on Earth, could you stand over there in the corner? Yeah, that's good, right there by the pile of trash. Thanks." Rove 20:04.

"Be not of this world but be transformed and fucking die already." Rovans 12:06

I love the Tull quote. I just had a Tull-Fest at my house last weekend. My bitchy neighbor came over to complain and I said "That is fucking Locomotive Breath how dare you ask me to turn it down." This is the same woman who plays Clint Black at 7AM before she and her freeper husband leave for work.

I came to Sicily to get away from fucking Americans but two shit heads from NAS Sigonella just happen to live downstairs. Think it's time for me to drag some chairs around the apartment tonight say around Midnight.

These fucktards are "Christians" too. How special.
