Bird flu pandemic inevitable, says WHO (Can you imagine FEMA?)

Bird flu pandemic inevitable, says WHO

The World Health Organisation (WHO) yesterday warned that a pandemic of the bird flu strain lethal to humans is inevitable, and would likely kill between one and seven million people worldwide, Reuters reports.

Dr. Jai P. Narain, Director of WHO's communicable diseases department, took time out from a Southeast Asia health summit in Sri Lanka to tell the press: "We may be at almost the last stage before the pandemic virus may emerge. Whether the avian influenza pandemic will occur, that is not the question any more, as to when the pandemic will occur."

(We really need to eliminate the Bush regime before bird flu 'mysteriously' arrives, as a Weapon of Mass Distraction for Bush's Katrina and Iraq. Outside of utilizing FEMA's concentration camps on a grand scale, I really can't foresee anything else Bush/Halliburton will do for Americans during a bird flu pandemic.)

1. I know. Some folks have been worried about another
natural disaster or a terrorist attack. This is my nightmare, because it would involve our whole country, and our only hope of limiting the effect of a pandemic is a rapid, coordinated response. Do you think that's likely, with blivet** and his cronies in power?

13. It's Up To Local Authorities
Gosh. They should be the ones handling outbreaks in their area. If thousands die in on city, it is the mayor and governor's fault and problem.

Sheesh. Why does everyone expect the federal government to do everything? Just wanting hand outs....

:sarcasm:

CNN Reporter: Mr. President, tens of thousands across the country have died from the bird flu and the numbers may reach into the hundreds of thousands. Why weren't you prepared?

Asshole: Who could have anticipated such a tragedy?

CNN Reporter: WHO did anticipate it Mr. President.

I have spent most of the last week feeling the deepest kind of despair. If I were completely without a sense of humor, I think I would have gone off the deep end by now.

9. We have to keep our sense of humor.
My eyes have been the size of walnuts from crying all week, so it was a real pleasure to have a good laugh. Thanks,

14. OMFGROFL... but meanwhile, think the Free-Marketeers would turn down
the vaccinations or treatments or whatever that the Public Health System would dispense?

Whoops...forgot....we probably won't have a Public Health System by the time the real looters are out of office.

I just hope that whomever is predicting this is wrong. What else can we hope for - we've already seen what the "response" would likely be.

And airbourne disease might not discriminate but who do we think would suffer most in such an event?

The only consolation would be that I would take a grim satisfaction all the way to the grave at how fast the Libertarians and "Free-Marketeers" gained an appreciation for Public Health Services when their own lives were at stake.

6. And we've seen recent press accounts that Chertoff seized control...
...of the response from the CDC. So, in all likelihood, if bird flu hits we're on our own.

Fitz BETTER have the goods on Bush!

11. Halliburton won't be needed to 'rebuild' - as the people will all be dead,
but the buildings will remain. They can buy up water rights, etc.. I am sure that Halliburton and the Bush regime is already working on a plan.

18. I know I wont take any vaccination...no way!
Look folks...bird flu is not going to be a big epidemic. The reason it's been a problem in Asia is their living conditions.

IF you house the chickens, ducks and geese...keep them seprate from wild bird waste and water, our poultry won't infect us.

ALWAYS be weary of GOVT + Vaccination Programs. Think of the Billions these companies make from pandemics.
