Bush to face protests as he defends Iraq policy
CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush, trying to counter the message of anti-war vigils outside his ranch and growing public discontent with Iraq, leaves Texas on Monday for the first of two speeches on the war and the September 11 attacks, but more protesters await him.

Bush, appearing at a Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Salt Lake City, will weigh in on attempts by Iraqis to meet a deadline for a draft constitution and may reiterate his stay-the-course message to Americans who are increasingly uneasy about his handling of Iraq.

At a park near the VFW venue, Celeste Zappala, 58, the Philadelphia mother of a National Guardsman killed in Iraq, plans to lead a protest. Her son Sherwood Baker was killed in Iraq last year and she is part of anti-war mother Cindy Sheehan's group, Gold Star Families for Peace.

Baker was killed while assigned to the Iraq Survey Group, which was on the hunt for stockpiles of illicit weapons but concluded they were never there.

1. The headline is misleading
He won't face them. He'll close his eyes and cover his ears and say 'la la la la I can't hear you la la la la'

:(

3. Bush on WW2
Bush addresses his followers with Rice close-by

Bush :"You see, when...uh..you know...Poland invaded Germany, it's like September 11"

Condi: "psst...No...ahem...don't say that"

Bush "Yeah..OK...so Germany had to fight them over there and so do we"

Condi: "pssst...No"

Bush: "Are there black people in Germany?"

Condi: "smile ....just smile and wave"

Bush smirks, waves and the crowd is convinced

Later on CNN, Rice explains Bush' comments

"I don't think the President ever meant to imply Poland caused September 11th"

11. Adolf Eichmann
Both just doin' their job.

It's just their job requires them to aid in the murder of both the truth and innocents in equal measure.

But they got mouths to feed. Can't blame someone for just doin' their job, can you?

</sarcasm off>

6. Looking at the bright side--this article (yahoo) has a story BEFORE
Bush even leaves (about protests)---Generally, they fail even to report protests as -or after they happen.

7. That's true. During the "campaign" the MSM didn't even...
...mention protesters unless they had video with dogs and tear gas...

8. * quote from the article:
"Our troops know that ... if we do not confront these evil men abroad, we will have to face them one day in our own cities and streets, and they know that the safety and security of every American is at stake in this war," he said in his weekly radio address.

I dare * to say exactly who he means when he says "these evil men abroad"
-Osama? What happened to him anyway?
-Al-Zarqawi? But he is just a myth created by the pentagon to justify the invasion, according to http://www.comw.org/pda/0410zarqawi.html">this source. Anyway, he only came to Iraqi just before or just after the invasion, so that doesn't make sense
-The Iraqi insurgents? But most of them were not fighting the U.S. before the invasion, were they?
-All muslim men? Although I am sure his talibornagain base would love to wage a crusade against Islam, I wonder if * would admit this openly..

And my next question to * would be: what have the innocent people of Iraq ever done to us that we choose their country as a battlefield against "these evil men"?

12. The Operative Word is CRUSADE
Although I am sure his talibornagain base would love to wage a crusade against Islam, I wonder if * would admit this openly..

He did use the word "Crusade" on more than one occasion.
The first was right after 9/11.
Subsequently he has only used it when talking to his fundie base.

Of course it's a Crusade! Ask General Boykin. Look at what they
did in Abu Ghraib.

I am sure that during the Inquisition that Alberto Gonzales' ancestors
were hard at work providing the ecclesiastical and civil authorities
with whatever legal justifications they needed for the activities of
the Inquisitors.

9. "Bush Hides from Protestors & Tries to Defend Iraq Policy"
That would be a more accurate headline.

13. Chicken George Protestor in Salt Lake City Today
Chicken George Protestor in Salt Lake City Today
Lets revive Chicken George

Fox News story on George Bush:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,166363,00.html

Excerpt:

"One protester wore a chicken suit with a placard around his neck that said 'George: Scared of Cindy?'"

This was my brother, wouldn't it be great to revive Chicken George?

Why isn't Bush willing to meet with Cindy Sheehan? Where is Chicken George when you need him?
