Georgia Grenade Suspect Captured
TBILISI, Georgia, July 20, 2005

Georgian police detained the man suspected of throwing a grenade at U.S. President Bush during his visit to Georgia in May, the Interior Ministry said.

One police officer died and another was wounded Wednesday during a shootout as Georgian security forces attempted to capture the suspect.

The incident occurred Wednesday evening in a village outside the capital Tbilisi and the suspect is thought to have escaped into a nearby wood, where a search was underway, ministry spokesman Guram Donadze told The Associated Press.

....

The live grenade landed less than 100 feet from the podium but did not explode. A preliminary investigation indicated the activation device deployed too slowly to hit the blasting cap hard enough, the FBI said.
The FBI statement contradicted initial reports by Georgian officials that the Soviet-era grenade was found on the ground, was inactive and posed no danger to Mr. Bush.

2. Captured?
The headline is directly contradicted by the info in the article. Says he escaped into the woods. CBS seems to be confused.

8. I did. That part was not in the story when I read it.
It read like the excerpt used by the OP:

"The incident occurred Wednesday evening in a village outside the capital Tbilisi and the suspect is thought to have escaped into a nearby wood, where a search was underway, ministry spokesman Guram Donadze told The Associated Press."

The story on the CBS News site doesn't read like that anymore. It's been changed.

6. "The suspect fled into the woods, but was later captured,"
"The suspect fled into the woods, but was later captured, ministry spokesman Guram Donadze told The Associated Press."

And the second part of the sentence directly contradicts you.

7. I'm glad they caught him.
Political disagreements are one thing, but this was an assasination attempt. Unacceptable.

9. I don't believe a word of any of this. Think the grenade was a
dud like first reported (before FBI began investigation). Think this is some petty thief or something that Georgia has grabbed to get the US off its back.
