U.S. Gov't: No Evidence of Planned Attacks
U.S. Gov't: No Evidence of Planned Attacks

Thursday July 7, 2005 4:01 PM

By LARA JAKES JORDAN

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. officials urged increased vigilance around the country Thursday following the deadly attacks on London transit systems, but said they had no intelligence indicating similar attacks were planned in America.

President Bush, in Scotland for a meeting of the Group of Eight leaders, conferred in a secure video conference with national security and homeland security officials in Washington.

``I instructed them to be in touch with local and state officials about the facts of what took place here in London,'' Bush told reporters from a summit of world leaders. Bush said he urged caution ``as our folks start heading to work.''

At Washington's urging, authorities in major cities heightened security in transit systems. But Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said there were no immediate plans to raise the nation's threat level.

1. They didn't have any intelligence of a problem on 9/10/2001 either!
So why should I think they would have any now?

12. What? They sure as hell did know something was up
but Bush decided to sit on his fucking thumbs which were straight up his alcoholic AWOL ass in Crawford and think about it (or not).
Meanwhile, chicken shit John Ashcroft (amongst others truly in the know of the elevated terrorist warnings) was flying private CHARTER jets because he knew there was an elevated hijacking threat.
And then of course there is fucking Condi Rice claiming "we never thought they would use planes as missiles", despite all the previous evidence indicating planes as missiles was a very real and lethal possibility- Bojinka, Algerians in Paris, etc...

Why the fuck do you think Bush stalled and resisted the 9/11 investigation for as long as humanly possible? Do you not also remember that Ashcroft and Bush had cut anti-terrorism funding in the bill sitting on his desk the morning of 9/11?

Now let me vent:

I am mad as hell that history may not properly record how America, on 9/11 was the direct victim of George W. Bush's amazingly amazing cluelessness, incompetence, and complete unfitness to be Commander in Chief.
I am also mad as hell that red staters think terrorism affects all of America, when the very real fact of the matter is that it is almost exclusively an URBAN problem with blue staters on the very front lines.
Lastly I feel very sorry for the soldiers in Iraq, who must now realize how completely futile their "mission" is in Iraq- 'Flypaper'?... 'Fighting them over there'?.....
Sorry guys, but hopefully today's horror will serve to shatter the myth of what Bush and the neocons would have us believe you are doing-because not one innocent life was saved today by your occupation of Iraq- in fact, one can argue quite reasonably that your presence there- cheered on by your inept CiC who preaches of "victory" safely from what should rightfully be Al Gore's and/or John Kerry's White House (2 guys BTW who actually showed up for their duty) helped bring about today's attacks. But hey, the mission seems to have degenerated down to just keeping yourselves from getting killed- so take another shot at any Iraqis who happen to get too close to you- and I can't say that I blame you, but I do blame Bush.

The flag waving sheep across the land need a clue: This is NOT a military 'war'. The sooner you come to realize this truth, the sooner we can get on to 'winning' the 'war' on terror.

2. They knew there would be attacks if Kerry was elected. What happened
to all that information? The terrorists give up once they knew they got their man back in office?

3. But let's keep funding redundant wing-nut duplication security...
Might as well waste the liberal tax dollars on right wing hegemonic make shift jobs! No sense spending it on the people. After all we need more security departments just to keep track of all the redundancy out there.

5. Which doesn't mean a thing, unless...
unless the UK did have intelligence indicating attacks were planned in London.

Though if they did, then apparently it didn't make much of a difference.

6. Definition of "folks". I'm not his folks, quit calling me that.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=folks

1. a. The common people of a society or region considered as the representatives of a traditional way of life and especially as the originators or carriers of the customs, beliefs, and arts that make up a distinctive culture: a leader who came from the folk.
b. Archaic. A nation; a people.

2. Informal. People in general. Often used in the plural: Folks around here are very friendly.

3. People of a specified group or kind. Often used in the plural: city folks; rich folk.

4. folks Informal.
a. The members of one's family or childhood household; one's relatives.
b. One's parents: My folks are coming for a visit.

adj. Of, occurring in, or originating among the common people: folk culture; a folk hero.

Idiom:
just folks Informal
Down-to-earth, open-hearted.

Any way you look at it, I am not his "folks" and am really tired of hearing this doofusy phrase. It does not sound down to earth or open-hearted, just stooopid. Hey Mr.bush, you are supposed to show leadership qualities.

7. How do they expect people to take security alerts seriously
if they're issuing them with no intelligence? If they keep on issuing them out of fear of copy cat attacks eventually they will be taken less seriously.

8. For all we know there could have been a Presidential Daily Briefing
that said "Al Qaeda determined to strike London," but the Chimpinator never read it because he was too busy drinking Glenlivet and running over Scottish policemen with his tricycle.

9. I'm glad we have a leader who tells the feds to tell the locals about this
otherwise they might never have known about it being all the way across the world and all.

11. "I instructed them to be in touch with local..." - LOL

"''I instructed them to be in touch with local and state officials about the facts of what took place here in London,'' Bush told reporters from a summit of world leaders."

That makes me laugh. They claimed "failure" on 9/11 and now he's "instructing" others how to deal with it. Wonderful!
