Romney raises MBTA security level following London attacks
BOSTON --Gov. Mitt Romney on Thursday raised the security level on Boston's transit system as a precaution after a terrorist attack on London's subways and buses killed dozens of people and injured hundreds.

Romney said there was no specific intelligence about any threat to Boston or the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority system. The heightened security level is similar to the "Code Orange" used by federal authorities.

The governor said he raised the alert at 6:15 a.m., following the London explosions. At 7:40 a.m. the U.S. Homeland Security Department asked authorities in major U.S. cities for heightened vigilance of transportation systems, Romney said.

It is the first time such an alert has been issued by state officials, though federal Code Orange alerts have led to increased security on the regional transit system, notably after the Madrid train bombings last year.

3. I doubt that
I don't think that there is a way that such an attack could happen today, but generally speaking: these cities are just as likely to become targets.

France and Germany are both in Afghanistan; but more importantly: I don't think that such attacks can be considered a provoced reaction.
