Captives: Terrorists hoped for Bush re-election
By ASSOCIATED PRESS

LONDON

Two French journalists who were held hostage in Iraq told a British documentary program that their captors believed George W. Bush's re-election as US president would help radicalize Iraqis.

Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot, who were seized in August and released after four months, told the British Broadcasting Corp.'s "Panorama" program that they were allowed to interview the leader of an Islamic militant cell within the group that seized them.

"We felt we were on planet bin Laden," Malbrunot said on the program, which airs Wednesday night.

The cell leader trained with terror leader Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan and told them the insurgents supported a Bush presidency because they believed it meant that "there will be confrontation, occupation and radicalization of the Iraqi people," Malbrunot said.

2. The US media knew about this last year and wouldn't report it.
They also knew that Bin Laden had permission from the Islamic spiritual leaders to use a nuclear weapon on the United States if the American people put Bush back in office. Until then, Bin Laden couldn't get any sanctioning from them because they blamed Bush more than the American people.

I hope they know that the American people did NOT vote Bush into office, but, his fascist cronies who own the voting machines did.

18. I didn't hear it was linked to the election
but it does seem to have been linked to the invasion of Iraq. And it was only publicised after the presidential election:

Nov. 14, 2004

After Sept. 11, Scheuer says bin Laden was criticized by Muslim clerics for launching such a serious attack without sufficient warning. That has now been given. And he says bin Laden has even obtained a fatwa, or Islamic decree, justifying a nuclear attack against the United States on religious grounds.

"He secured from a Saudi sheik named Hamid bin Fahd a rather long treatise on the possibility of using nuclear weapons against the Americans. Specifically, nuclear weapons," says Scheuer. "And the treatise found that he was perfectly within his rights to use them. Muslims argue that the United States is responsible for millions of dead Muslims around the world, so reciprocity would mean you could kill millions of Americans."

Scheuer says the fatwa was issued in May 2003, "and that's another thing that doesn't come to the attention of the American people."

was sanctioned to attack the US with nuclear material IF the American people put Bush back in office.

I felt the media did an ENORMOUS disservice to the citizens of this country when they refused to report this, even though they knew about it for almost 2 years prior to the elction.

7. That's why we're fighting them there, so we don't have to fight them here.
Does that statement give anybody else the creeps? How can they say that? Like they're absolutely positive they will never strike here again? I hope to God they're right, but seeing as how they've not been right once in the last five years, it scares me.

16. if they want to strike here, they will
--and the way the mass of "terrorists" is growing as a result of the Iraqi breeding ground, it seems inevitable that an attack of some sort will happen here. Especially in consideration of the fact that our military AND our National Guard are preoccupied to the max away from our borders, budgets for first responders and local security have been cut, and the people are completely preoccupied with TV pablum and materialism and living under a false sense of security that "we're fighting them over there." There is really nothing stopping "terrorists" from doing what they have already done twice: blow up major buildings. But I suspect it's too much fun watching "the jackals from the West" shoot themselves in the foot on the terrorists' turf while their numbers (the terrorists) go through the roof.

28. The irony of this is that the converse of this statement is...
actually equally true for the terrorists in Iraq. They are fighting us there rather then go through the trouble of ttrying to fight us here.

And for many of the insurgence it is likely that:

They are fighting us there, because we are fighting them there and never had any intention of fighting us here until we started fighting them there.

which leads to the logical conclusion that:

When we stop fighting them there, many of them will start fighting us here, therefore we can never stop fighting them there unless we wan't to start fighting them here, which we don't.

To paraphrae The Princess Bride - Truly Bush has a dizzying intellect.

To which he would naturally replay - Wait till I get going.

Peace.

There is no better friend to America's enemies (and competitors) than Bush.

15. The way the video was SPUN
and the timing of the release of the video is what helped Bush.
The MSM didn't report most of what Bin Laden actually said in the tape. If they did it would have been very different.

For instance, he basically implied that Bush was doing the terrorists job for them by destroying the American economy and sending American soldiers into harm's way in Iraq. He also implied that Kerry (if he became president) would reduce support for the terrorists by using diplomacy (which Bin Laden obviously didn't like).

when only snippits were shown on the Corp media I told DH it would push more to vote for Bush since it was made to look like Osama was afraid of him. When I heard the whole thing I knew for sure it was being spun to do just that.

17. People looked at me like I was crazy when I said this in '04
There were (few and far between) reports last summer that terrorist "chatter" on the internets suggested that they were hoping for a Bush victory because they feared Kerry would look "too reasonable" to the non-radicalized Islamic world, and they knew Bush would provide just the invasive, occupying demon they wanted the world to see.

But if you mentioned this to people, they looked at you like you were crazy -- the mainstream meme was that of course the terrorists wanted "soft on terror Kerry" to win.

23. Its elementary logic
The person I fear the most in all of this world is George W. Bush.... not Osama Bin Laden or any convicted killer. George Bush and his renegade policies have really helped provoke the war against this country with his simplistic "we bring freedom" propaganda. That is why Democrats DESPERATELY tried to beat him and need to continue to do so. It is only in his disgrace at our hands can we restore the good name of this country.

I also believe that Osama waited for him to be elected before he attacked us. So indirectly the moral values zombie brigade has the blood of thousands of people on their hands.

41. This is rich
I'd always suspected the bin Laden gang was actually pulling for Bush. Kinda makes me think of a bumper sticker I saw last week here in Massachusetts. On the bumper of this big-ass Ford pickup (of course) I see two stickers. One said, "10 out of 10 Terrorists Agree: Anyone But Bush!"

Then I thought to myself, "Obviously, two of those ten terrorists don't include bin laden and al Zarqawi."
