http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8349591/SANFORD, Fla. - A jet loaded with tourists from Belfast never made it to the terminal at Orlando-Sanford International Airport Friday after police in Northern Ireland said they received a vague threat about a flight.
So, all the passengers and their luggage were taken off the plane right after it landed, WESH 2 News reported.
Belfast police received a call in which the caller claimed there would be a bomb on a plane in Florida on Friday. The only flight heading directly to Florida from Belfast was a Monarch plane scheduled to land in Sanford, so the airport decided to not take any chances.
"It was nothing specific to this particular airplane. We had received a very generic bomb threat about an airplane from Florida. The call was made to the Belfast Police Department," said Larry Dale, the CEO of the Orlando-Sanford International Airport.
