N.H. Senator's Wife Abducted, Then Freed

McLEAN, Va. - The wife of Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., was abducted at knife point from her home on Tuesday morning, but later released unharmed, said suburban Virginia police and spokesmen for the senator.

Police said that 52-year-old Kathleen Gregg arrived at her house about 9:30 a.m. EDT to find two men waiting inside. One drew a knife and demanded cash, said Jacki Smith, a spokeswoman for the Fairfax County Police Department.

One of the men then drove her to a nearby bank while the other followed in another car, Smith said, reporting that after the men received an undisclosed amount of cash from a teller, they fled the scene in a car and the woman called police.

In this economy, we will probably see more abductions as the rich keep getting richer. Kidnapping has been a cottage industry in South America for years.

6. There's a reason this doesn't happen much in the US -the FBI

This is very common in many countries especially in South and Latin America. Whe I worked for an insurance agent I attended a conference and insurance for executives for this kind of thing was discussed.

The strangest type is the cell phone abduction. They steal your cell phone and call your wife/husband and demand money. The drop is made (if the cops don't take it from you) and then your spouse comes home to tears and hugs and you find out that someone grabbed their cell phone through a car window or on the commuter train. Usually a one-day or cell phone abductionist asks for much less money, they need the "turn over". It was a very interesting seminar with an ex-CIA guy and an ex-something or other guy.
