1. Privelege claim is suspended
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 11:34 AM by HawkeyeX
until further notice. Chimpy did not legitimately win the election, and therefore cannot use privelege. He is a lame-duck fraud, and will permanently be in the history books as the WORST president since Hoover to exist. 'Sides, Congress will override his claim. He lost it a long time ago.

5. That Would Be a Very, VERY Huge Mistake
Politically, their only option is to fess up and allow prosecution on the offender. If they don't, it's only going to get nastier.

8. Yes
Invoking executive privilege will just evoke memories of Whitewater/Monica and remind people Bush has not restored honor and dignity to the WH - a bad move all the way around.

17. Oh yes Whitewater. Wasn't that just horrible what those Clinton's did?
Let's see now how again did that effect America? What did they do wrong again? I just can't remember all the sordid details. How many laws were proven to have been broken and how many lies were uncovered? Whitewater has to go down in history as the worst scandal in American history.

20. I know Whitewater was a tempest in a teapot
And I don't mean to saying outing an undercover CIA agent and an obscure Arkansas are anything close to comparable. I was just referring to the fact that Bush's promise to restore honor and dignity to the WH is total garbage.

14. Yes, but with Rove, Abrams and Libby cleared...
...at least according to the WH, makes it look like the big setup. I don't think they want to permit prosecution of Bush and/or Cheney, and THAT is what it would come down to...

12. Invoking 'PRIVILEGE' is actually what all this mess is about!!!
PRIVILEGE means ABOVE the law...ABOVE guilt...ABOVE inquiry...ABOVE questioning..

NOTHING TOUCHES YOU UNLESS YOU AGREE TO IT!!

11. correct me if I'm wrong, but
doesn't "executive privilege" only extend to the "executive" - yes, I know they are trying to use it to cover the energy documents from Cheney - but that is still in judicial process -

so, if they do claim "executive privilege" are they saying that this leak originated with the "executive"????

Doesn't that put it squarely in *'s mouth???

15. That would only prove they can't handle the responsibility
of their own investigation and they need a special prosecutor -as if there was actually any doubt. Just cut the formalities, cut the crap, this Administration is hostile to democracy and can't be trusted to be honest or act with integrity and we need to demand a special prosecuter to investigate this action.

21. The problem is that the opposition needs to treat BushCo like the Mafia
Because that's exactly what they are.

BushCo never plays by the rules. The opposition needs to take the Offensive and clean this mess up in the same way they went after Capone, or Gotti.

No matter what happens BushCo always uses their army of lawyers to stonewall anything. This is turning into a repeat of Iran/Contra. They're doing EXACTLY the same stuff!

22. What!
How can it be possible to refuse to release information to an investigation due to National Security concerns, when the investigation itself is being conducted as a result of a breach of National Security!
Traitors!
Only conservatives could be so insane.
