Fitzpatrick says he's satisfied with troop conditions in Iraq
Fitzpatrick says he's satisfied with troop conditions in Iraq
By BRIAN SCHEID
The Intelligencer

Fresh off a four-day fact-finding trip to Iraq, Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick said that he was satisfied with the living conditions of the American troops stationed there, but he said more steps need to be taken to ensure their safety.

“Their attitude is excellent, their morale is wonderful,” the freshman lawmaker said Wednesday in an editorial board meeting at the Levittown offices of the Courier Times. “They feel that what they’re doing is very important and they want to complete what they’re doing there.”

Fitzpatrick, R-8, spoke with dozens of U.S. troops inside military zones in Baghdad and Fallujah during a tour of Iraq he took last weekend with six other lawmakers.

Fitzpatrick said fitting more than 20,000 Humvees and thousands of other military convoy vehicles used by troops in Iraq with additional armor was a step in the right direction. The vehicle armor and new body armor, which cost millions, can better protect those vehicles and soldiers against explosive devices and ambushes.

“This program is saving their lives,” he said.

3. Oh yeah the General's driver said everything was just peachy
and the band oh the band LOVES their air conditioned practice hall in the Green Zone so I checked with some of the reporters at the hotel bar and they said that everything is going along just great. When I asked them if they could take me out on a ride around Baghdad, you know some of the places they know, they said that they had already filed for today and that, well I forget what they said after that it was pretty mumbled but they bought me a couple of drinks on their tabs and pretty soon we were talking about sports and stuff you know.

6. Just what "living conditions" did Fitzpatrick enjoy while in Iraq?
I'd be willing to bet an appendage that he didn't get within an MRE of the same "living conditions" with which he purports to be "satisfied."

“They feel that what they’re doing is very important and they want to complete what they’re doing there.”

And what exactly are they doing?

15. From what I understand from returning troops....
Visiting dignitaries are greeted by certain troops not all. I am sure that disgruntled troops are out in the field on the day of a visit. Kind of like Dems not being allowed into certain town hall meetings, or liberals being escorted out under force.

The military has always been able to spin news to their benefit!
