Bush urges Mubarak hold fair elections -Yahoo
http://home.earthlink.net/~coreygoldberg/songs/vxgas.htm

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush urged Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Wednesday to show the world his country can set an example for others by holding free and fair presidential elections.

"I urged him once again to have as free and fair elections as possible because it will be a great legacy for his country," Bush told reporters during a session with visiting South African President Thabo Mbeki.

(I thought everyone could use a little comedy.)

I know there is nothing funny about unfair elections, but sometimes good sarcastic comic relief is appropriate and funny :)

23. OK then substantiate all of that...
As I understand it Diabold machines in swing states (Fla and Oh) without any paper trails are not definitively verifiable. On top of which Dem districts (in those states) didn't have the resources to handle the volume of voters. Either of these states would have changed the result of the election. Give me proof that Democrats were not disenfranchised in those states...

Christine Gregoire is still fighting to protect her win over Dino Rossi.

5. Apparently, "free and fair" is a relative thing.
Statement: "I urged him once again to have as free and fair elections as possible..."

Subtext: ...as long as them danged Islamicists don't win. Got it, Abdul?

25. So ALL election workers in the US were hardworking honest non-partisan...
Prove it!

At exactly how many "polls" did you work? To assume that elections were fair based on your experience at one (or however many you could have worked) in "juvenile".

Why not Google the subject and get back to us...

this "elections" are just a set up to make that transfer of power look legit ... Mubarak will win by just 85% of the vte rather than 95%, that's all

16. You'd think that after giving them over a billion a year in foreign aid...
...we'd have some sort of clout there, eh? (IIRC, Egypt is second only to Israel in the amount of US military aid it receives each year).

Oh, but George isn't threatening to withhold that billion a year in military aid, is he?

Then he must not really mean it.

18. Why?
Shouldn't he be more concerned about fair elections in this country?

I'm hoping all of this is going to implode around him very, very soon. People are going to wake up and see the senselessness and the stupidity of all that he says and does.

26. Ah, I believe the Press had a lot more to do with our loss to Bush.
Kerry was an adequate candidate and although some mistakes were made compared to Bush and his continual blunders he was a great choice.

Of course what was the press on day after day?

24. So saying that someone cheated who did cheat is whining?
Kerry may not have run a perfect campaign, but the bushites did cheat. Accusing those of us who believe this of whining is more juvenile and not very helpful.

47. Why aim for just "fair"? Why not "better than terrible"? Or
"really, really honest" or "one where all votes are counted accurately"?

We had some fair-ly HORRIBLE elections in the US recently!! So why is * always for mediocrity?
