That's also why Bush and Rummy are putting on their dog and pony show slamming Amnesty International's claims. What parent wants his 18 y.o. son/daughter to graduate on to torturing people as an "occupation?" Only the dumb ones, those that haven't been keeping up with the Tillman family's travails.

The Bush/Cheney/Rummy Amateur Act is a sign that May's missed Army recruitment goals are probably higher than April's whopping 42%. If the June/July/Aug figures don't make up the difference in the last four to five months' lag, anticipate a creative Rovian propaganda device for "draft."

13. Cheney is shitting himself.
They all are. This is their worst nightmare. They've lied the country into a war and they can't get us out. The public is slowing waking up to what has happened.

8. NBC's Jim Maceda was quoted today as saying that the 40,000 Iraqi troops
are a myth. Maceda said that US troops are carrying the burden of the current operations in Baghdad. Maceda also said that things are not going that well in Baghdad.

14. I heard the same from a British reporter in Baghdad on NPR.
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 04:44 AM by leftchick
I heard him on NPR yesterday. He said this

He said this operation lightning was more of a PR thing than an actual operation! He also said there was no where near 40,000 Iraqi troops!

Welcome to the well oiled USA Propaganda Machine!

part of the trip in Iraq - nightmare to travel in and out of the airport via the road.

18. Car bomb hits Baghdad checkpoint, 15 wounded(all civilians)
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 07:15 AM by maddezmom
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide car bomb detonated at a checkpoint into Baghdad's international airport on Wednesday, wounding 15 civilians, the U.S. military said.

The bomber blew up his vehicle among a group of cars lining up to go through the checkpoint, the main entrance into the tightly controlled airport complex.

Insurgents fired AK-47s and other small arms at the checkpoint immediately after the blast, the statement said.

The checkpoint, which is close to the entrance to the main U.S. military base in the capital, has been attacked several times in the past, with Iraqi and foreign security contractors frequently killed.

Eugene -

One U.S. Marine has died and four others from a Eugene-based engineering company have been injured in hostile action in Iraq.

They are members of the 6th Engineering Battalion and were involved in an incident last Friday in Western Iraq.

Killed was First Sergeant Michael Barnhill of Sacramento, California, who was assigned to the Eugene unit.

Injured are Lance Corporal Joe Crabtree of McMinnville, Lance Corporal Andrew Miller, and Major Sean Riddell.

A fifth Marine, a Corporal Skelly, was also injured, but authorities could not give KVAL his full name.

I hate this freakin' stupid mal-administration :argh:

(edited: no different incident - this one was last Friday)
