They are VERY VERY VERY 'patriotic' ...
They would be GLAD to don the uniform and stand a post to protect George Bush's buddies oil interests round the world .... SURELY they would

| 2. This is just not the truth...on CBS news they reported that recruiters |
|
...are being pressured into these acts and some have even resorted to taking their own lives due to the pressure to "do what it takes to make recruitment quotas".
Every American is patriotic, but who wants to die or be disabled for life in an unjust and immoral war? This is Bush's War, let him and his cronies go out and find people to fight it and die for him.

That's ridiculous.
This is the land of the selfish individual. This is the land of libertarianism. Where the hell did you get that?
There are many noble and self-sacrificing types here, as there are throughout the human race, but that statement's indefensible.
This is the land of the quick fix, this quarter's statement and getting rich quick. That's why we dominate in the movie and music industry; it's not a question of greater talent or technical innovation, it's the intrinsic soul of the short term scam.
Sheesh.

...all many Americans have to do is put an American flag sticker on the back of their SUV's, and immediately, they become "Super Patriot" - also known as the "More Patriotic Than Thou Club". Thats all there is to it! Many can become a Super Patriot, AND still maintain a self-centered and self-absorbed view of the World!

These recruiters must be getting desperate. And the desperate type of people are what they will get with this ploy. Patriotism will only be a superficial excuse to serve one`s self up as cannon fodder. Recruiting numbers are down for a reason. Bu$h`s lies for his war crime are catching up to him. Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Bu$h Inc. may have to draft some patriotism soon. Peace Wildman Al Gore is My President

|
"The Army Friday took a day off from recruiting to review the service's ethos of honor and integrity with its 7,500 recruiters.... The active-duty Army is off about 6,600 recruits so far this year..."
Stop recruiting, return the recruiters to active duty. That should tide us over until the draft boards are fully mobilized.

in many people. People are patriotic insofar as America can be a place to make a lot of money.
Not my war, but if I was called, I would go.

No Child Left Behind.
I could see MoveOn.org doing another ad, utilizing children, similar to the Tax Cuts ad they did prior to the '04 elction.
This new ad would show fat cat pols shoving children to the front lines, putting rifles in their hands. We would see children peering out from under too-large helmets, and wearing kevlar vests that drag the ground. Children sitting in humvees, trying to lift ammo boxes and mortar rounds.
No child left behind...really starting to take on chilling undertones.
