'God's Banker' was murdered: London Evening Standard
'God's Banker' was murdered
20 May 2005
Police re-examining the death of Italian banker Roberto Calvi have concluded that he was murdered, it emerged today.

Calvi, who was known as "God's Banker" because of his links to the Vatican, was found hanged under Blackfriars Bridge in central London in 1982 with bricks in his pockets.

He was initially thought to have killed himself.
Detectives from City of London Police have now concluded that he was murdered.
They believe he was probably strangled by two or possibly more people and then hung from scaffolding.

From April 18, 2005:

Four Indicted over Roberto Calvi Murder

Four people were indicted today for the murder of Italian financier Roberto Calvi, a banker with close ties to the Vatican whose body was found hanging under a London bridge in 1982, reports said.

Businessman Flavio Carboni; his ex-girlfriend Manuela Kleinzig, and two men with alleged ties to the Mafia, Pippo Calo and Ernesto Diotallevi, will stand trial in October for Calvi’s murder, the Italian news agencies ANSA and Apcom said.

compelling trickle of juicy morsels to emerge as City of London cops turn the screws on former Cold War ID theft felons connected to the espionage trail left by Robert Maxwell RIP.

Banco Ambrosiano was a KGB slush fund. As was BCCI.

Both laundered the proceeds of vice/drugs/arms crime to finance political corruption AND whitewash over the disastrous KGB career of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr.

Calvi was mired in UK sex rings, most notably the Children of God pedophile cult whose HQ in Hampstead, North London supplied couriers that laundered money and acted as go-betweens for various terrorist groups operating under the 'brand' names of IRA, Provisional IRA, Bader Meinhof, Red Brigade, Hamas, ETA, PLFP, etc.

The European mastermind for this was the Stasi's Marcus Wolf.

Banco Amrosiano collapsed because a portfolio of £400million+ assets that were stolen in the UK via a network of fraud and embezzlement scams operated by the Polish Catholic order the Marian Fathers via the former Midland Bank - now HSBC - and were then used as collateral to raise massive loans for the Vatican Bank, the IOR.

IOR's CEO Cardinal Marcinkus was directly implicated and was facing prosecution for Ambrosiano's collapse until Bush1 intervened.

Calvi, Ambrosiano's CEO was found hanging in London and was pronounced a suicide victim.

Bush1 then said Marcinkus had immunity from prosecution because no felony was suspected over the Calvi death.

22 years on, DNA forensics proved Calvi was topped............

It was a creation of British intelligence and it was used by crooks, criminals, dictators and intelligence agencies - notably the CIA - across the world. I've never heard of KGB's involvement, but I may have missed something?

7. No it was 100% KGB controlled, operated, masterminded etc.
Both BCCI and Ambrosiano.

The financial paper trails of their respective collapses show that Ronal reagan was the most senior KGB officer to slime his way into American high public office.

Ditto Thatcher in UK.

at one stage thinking of going public on this (circa end of 94/start of 95) but Nancy went ballistic and showed them the psych reports saying he was already in the mid stages of dementia and.... ulitmately unprosecutable.

Loads of intelligence on Reagan was mothballed by UK PM John Major between 1990 and 1997 and filed under Official Secrets Act. BUT>>>>

The money trail that nails Reagan is in the subpoenaed security/intelligence files that the plaintiffs in the BCCI London class action have won after appealing to the house of Lords.

The BCCI lawsuit alleges that the UK financial regulatory body The Bank of England is guilty of misfeasance - ie. gross negligence - because it KNEW what was going on at BCCI and failed to stop it.

Thatcher, Major and even Blair all tried to stop the release of the files that nail all US and UK politicians involved, saying it was prejudicial to 'national security'. But the Lords have repeatedly ruled that such intellugence was only potentially damaging to the personal reputations of politicians and not a matter of State security.

Shrub must have put the screws on even tighter on Poodle last summer when Raygun finally died.

20. He was their top man, aided and abetted by Bush1 who slimed
his way into the top CIA job and then the ambassadorship to China.

But their sexual predilections eventually got them busted - they both had past criminal records in the US, UK and Europe for child abuse.

In 1981 Reagan ordered CIA-controlled thugs to spy on foreign intelligence agencies to see just what was in their dossiers on him. But the Brits got wind of this and laid a trail of counter-intelligence so that when Raygun's assess finally hacked into the ECHELON military computer, they got found out.

Some of this may come out in the BCCI class action in London. As I understand it, this particular bit relates to BCCI's attempt to drop some £50billion in counterfeit currency on the Brit public.

22. It's not on the internet. Some was reported during the Ambrosiano
collapse in the UK business weekly Middle East Economic Digest (circa July/August 1982) when rival gang factions controlled by the KGB were having a turf war in London.

Much of the real meat of this stuff is to be heard in the BCCI London class action, which has been slowly rolled out since January 2004.

Blair was gagged last year and made every effort when Raygun popped his clogs last summer to quash any possible reference leaking out.

Watch the BCCI reporting space....

26. I'm confused. I thought that the BCCI was a Pakistani bank with
Saudi and Emirates monies (very little, actually) that operated to finance world terrorism, laundry drug money and loan money to Dubya's failed oil schemes from the 1970's until its collapse.

I know it took over banks in almost 73 countries, with ties to Bank of America, Keating Five, politicians, etc.

But now, you claim it was a joint CIA-KGB operation?

31. I doubt the KGB connection
But the ties to British and American intelligence are well known. It was Pakistani, headquartered in Karachi and incorporated in Luxembourg, and the money was largely Saudi/UAE. The top managers were Pakistanis. One of them, whose name I can't remember at the moment, was an asset of both Saudi intelligence and of the Mossad. It was used by the CIA and the MI6 in their operations in Afghanistan. Webster Tarpley has written a lot about their ties to British intelligence and he's among those who claim that it was a British operation from the beginning.

The US Congressional report on the BCCI claimed that the Bank of England, the BCCI, and Price Waterhouse "entered into a plan to keep the true state of affairs secret".

A substantial number of US senators were allegedly bribed by the BCCI, a list has surfaced but who knows if it's genuine.

who runs the KGB?

Either the KGB somehow wound up running the world in a mere 75 years starting from nothing or someone was running the world through the KGB.

Prehaps the trail, if followed to its end, will lead back to the City of London.

47. Organised crime ran the KGB pre-Suez. Then Andropov got
extra financing from Asian drug dealing to do the kind of black ops that the military budget couldn't afford.

Bush1 and Reagan were ID theft plants financed originally via Castro from South American coke dealing but also from laundered proceeds of crime that went from Europe to Argentina, Chile and other SA states that were harboring ex-Nazi war criminals and their looted stashes.

Putin was promoted way above his capabilities from the late 70s and was at his most deadly during the Thatcher years.

Markus Wolf was in overall charge of terror-related crimes in Europe at this time and was Putin's co-ordinator for Asian-related crime cartels which were financed from tax havens such as Luxembourg, Lichtenstein and Monaco.

The City of London trail certainly points a horrible finger of suspicion at these cold-war ID theft KGB plants:

neither of whom are the 'original' House of Windsor individuals but members of the Russian Freeman crime family.

9. Pardon my naiveté
But even in 1982, how in the hell do the police miss the fact that Mr. Calvi was already dead by the time he was hanged from the bridge? All the detective stories I've read indicate that post-mortem trauma differs significantly from injuries inflicted before death (blood flow and that sort of thing).

Now maybe it's just a fictional device about pre-mortem and post-mortem injuries, but in that case a lot of mystery writers (who take extraordinary care to concoct their stories) are out of a job.

24. Police corruption in the Thatcher years was highest than ever
before or since. Thatcher had a policy of not getting involved in terrorism - especially when acting on instructions from Raygun/Bush1.

The City of London cops who found Calvi's body had plenty of evidence - though not hard forensic DNA - in 1982.

Much of the Ambrosiano/Calvi saga was stage-managed by the UK security services who feared huge collapse of financial/economic stability if too much was made public of KGB-controlled ops in the UK.

In Imperial Amerika, detectives who uncovered this murder would NEVER have the balls to bring it up, and the 'investigation' would die quietly. Even IF there were some honest law Enforcement Officers who dared to contradict The State in a matter of "National Security' our disgusting and toadying Corporate TV Pravda would insure their allegations never saw the light of day.

(sigh) I do so miss being Free. I miss it so much it hurts, in spite of the fact that in our daily lives we can still retend so...for a little while longer anyway.

25. BBC: UK cops questioned Brit woman re conspiracy to pervert:
Later that year they questioned, then bailed, a 42-year-old British woman on suspicion of conspiring to pervert the course of justice and perjury.

Police said she was freed from her bail earlier this year, after prosecutors decided it would not be in the public interest to pursue the case.

A variety of reasons, including the length of time since the death, were cited, said a police spokesman.

The four people due to stand trial in Italy are Flavio Carboni, his ex-girlfriend Manuela Kleinzig and Pippo Calo and Ernesto Diotallevi.

37. Markus Wolf and US Homeland Security
Markus Wolf was the head of the international intelligence gathering arm (HVA) of East Germany's Ministry for State Security (MfS), or Stasi. Under Wolf (1958 to 1987), Stasi ran a network of about 4,000 agents outside East Germany, infiltrating NATO headquarters and the administration of West German Chancellor Willy Brandt.

Stasi and Wolf himself, however, were best known for their network of informants inside East Germany. There were spies on every block, as it were, who would report "suspicious" activities back to Stasi headquarters.

"I didnt know this for a fact until earlier in the week," Martin continues. "But it speaks volumes of where the Bush Cheney Regime is going. Mr. Stasi himself, Markus Wolf, was undoubtedly greatest director of the East German intelligence service ever. Remember, STASI is just a code name for the East German intelligence internal operations directorate.

"Wolf is the man that effectively built the East German state intelligence operation’s internal directorate," Martin continues. "He turned half the population into informants. That is his specialty, is taking a population, constructing the various state divisions, mechanisms of control, in order to organize informants within the population. That is his real specialty. And that is precisely, as Primakov has intimated, why Wolf is being brought in. The regime knows that once all of Patriot II is in law and they begin working on Patriot III, they will then begin to establish the internal mechanism to coordinate, as an official function of state, a system of informants. Wolf’s speciality was to turn East Germany into the greatest and most efficient informant state ever created."

45. Between 1968 and 1995 the UK press published a lot of cold war
declassified files about this, particularly after the collapse of BCII abd the subsequent arrest of CIA double agent Aldrich Ames.

None of it has been archived onto the internet, partly as a Poodle policy of gagging anything that would reduce Shrub's chances of getting into the WH in Noember 2000, and partly because UK newspaper proprietors were offered inducements on copyright grounds to whitewash the published trail relating to cold war espionage.

However......much HAS been archived in microfiche form and is in public libraries. The British Library in London has good availability, for all those who know where to look.

I am compiling my own selection of all this published material that related to Bush1, Reagan and Bush2 in their true cold-war incarnations, as published in the UK press. Hope to get this into internet format pretty damned soon, having had to go to court to retrieve all my personal press cuttings files that relate - including articles and news items that I and former colleagues published in my esrtwhile journalism days.

53. David Kelly's words of warning were that if things went belly-up
about Saddam's putative WMD that he'd be 'found dead in the woods' - a phrase famously redrafter as 'found dead by the Bushes'......

55. I noticed the hobby too.
But everybody knows that the KGB and the CIA are like brothers. The details don't matter as much to me. Who cares if the Bushes were planted by the KGB or space reptiles. I just know they are killing us.

58. Yup
" ... the United States, for generations, has sustained two parallel but opposed states of mind about military atrocities and human rights: one of U.S. benevolence, generally held by the public, and the other of ends-justify-the-means brutality sponsored by counterinsurgency specialists. Normally the specialists carry out their actions in remote locations with little notice in the national press. That allows the public to sustain its faith in a just America, while hard-nosed security and economic interests are still protected in secret. ": Robert Parry, investigative reporter and author

REPORT ON CALVI AUTOPSY RETURNS SPOTLIGHT TO VATICAN BANK SCANDAL

EXCERPT...

But the background of Calvi's mysterious death is part of a larger tapestry of events which includes the collapse of banks in Europe and the United States, the role played by the Vatican in laundering money and stealing assets of Jews and other refugees from the World War II period, and even efforts to stage political coups and shelter former Nazis and fascists from being brought to justice. Calvi's links to the Vatican bank/IOR have resulted in books, and even a recent movie -- "God's Banker" -- which has played throughout Italy, much to the consternation of the Holy See. The Church has even tried to have posters and other advertisements for the film censored.

"The Vatican is reported to be furious over the film," noted a BBC story last March, "and the Holy See's press office said it had 'absolutely no comment' when asked for their reaction."

FROM BANCO AMBROSIANO TO P-2
AND THE VATICAN RAT LINES

The Calvi story touches on persons and developments going back to the time when the Vatican Bank was first chartered by the Italian fascist dictator, Benito Mussolini. Throughout the 19th century, the holdings of what was originally considered "the Papal State" were confiscated thanks to the unification of Italy. With an ear to the interests of the Vatican, Mussolini proposed in 1929 a Concordant which formally recognized the sovereignty of the Holy See as a geopolitical institution. The equivalent of approximately 85$ million was granted to "actualize" a banking institution under the control of the papacy, known benignly as the Institute for Religious Works.

The IOR was more than a simple internal banking system for the relatively small "government" of the Catholic Church. It benefited from shrewd investments, and eventually would become a haven for "offshore" funds secreted by corporations, organized crime, intelligence services and other groups. During World War II, over $100 million flowed into the IOR coffers thanks to the imposition of the notorious "kirchensteur" or "church tax" imposed by the Nazis in Germany and occupied countries. Other assets, believed confiscated from Jews, Serbs and other nationalities were also safely smuggled into the Vatican treasure chest where they found safe haven and legal immunity.

In 1969, the Vatican brought into its inner financial circle Michael Sindona, a man with ties to the Mafia dating to the 1940s. Using various "letters of introduction" from key Catholic officials, Sindona had risen rapidly in the world of Italian banking, and was described as "Uomini Di Fiducia," a Man of Confidence in the eyes of the Holy See. Sindona established his own investment empire, and worked closely with Vatican officials to invest in other banks and financial holdings.

In the United States, Sindona was prominent inside the hierarchy of the Illinois Republican Party. He was also working with the Inzerillo crime family (cousins of the New York Gambino family), and used their funds to invest in private banks and holding companies such as the Liechtenstein-based Fasco AG to the Banca Privata Finanziaria, which had been founded in 1930 by a fascist ideologue.

57. BTW: I'm Roman Catholic.
So, I don't have nothing personal against the Church. The thing is, if some priests are allowed to molest children and get away with it, what's to stop those tempted by lucre?
