Read it here.

Looks like Braun, Edwards, Lieberman and Sharpton will attend.

2. big mistake
simply from a realistic perspective. turning out the minority vote is going to be very important in this election, and given that minorities are disproportionately effected by the WH policies this could be a truly banner year. I can't beleive so many canidates are passing this by, it could really bite Dean or Clark in the ass moreso than the others but it could be a real boon for Edwards. just my two cents

6. No moneyed candidate has anything to offer low income or minorities

Their resources would be much better spent competing for the favor of affluent whites.

The likelihood of a political solution to the crisis in which the nation finds itself has dwindled to imperceptible.

Affluent white voters should just go ahead and enjoy their politicking.

4. Ummm...I'm all for civil rights and all that

But this is the first time I've heard of this event, and I'm not one to be known for missing political events.

With only two candidates saying they'd be there, I think SC sprung this on the candidates and that they're not missing it on their own.

"The civil rights group says only two of the 10 Democratic White House hopefuls have accepted invitations to attend a round-table discussion in Charlotte, N.C., about minority issues Oct 10.

Carol Moseley Braun and the Rev. Al Sharpton committed to the event. The night before, all the candidates will be on the opposite end of the country at a Democratic presidential debate in Phoenix.:

7. hasn't the phoenix debate been planned for some time ?
i remember hearing of a debate in phoenix for some time so i'm sure it was planned long ago. if so then it's understandable, especially if the naacp event came in afterwards. i'm not sure though. need a little more info maybe.

5. If you re-read the article, you'll notice that statement is false

"North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, who tops the latest poll in South Carolina, plans to attend part of the three-day convention."

He's attendng a part of the convention, but not being a part of the forum.

The only mention of Lieberman in this is:

"Joe Lieberman, Dick Gephardt and Dennis Kucinich drew ire from national NAACP officials when they skipped a presidential forum earlier this summer in Florida, prompting an apology later from all three candidates."
