Somali bombing linked to groups associated with al-Qaeda

Security agents have linked last week's Somali bombing to two terror gangs closely associated with the al-Qaeda network and the gangs' operation bases are believed to be in Kenya and Somalia, local newspaper The People Daily reported Monday.

The report said that America's Federal Bureau of Investigations(FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Kenya's National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS) are currently following leads linking the two terror groups to the blast at a stadium in Mogadishu that claimed eight lives.

Detectives are piecing together information relating to the twoterror gangs whose activities are linked to one of the world's most wanted terrorists Musab al Zarqawi.

Zarqawi, a close ally of Saudi Arabia fugitive and al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, is said to be in the process of establishing new terror cells in Somalia and Kenya.

4. Take a stab at this. The Marines are looking for Israelis in Somalia.

We all know Israel has been very publicly planning to bomb nuclear installations in Iran. However, Sharon apparently hasn't been able to get overflight rights from anyone in the region, not even the US that controls Iraqi airspace. So, the Israeli Air Force will have to fly F-15s and F-16s around the Arabian Peninsula to get to Bushehr, a 5,000 mile round trip. Problem is, according to public sources, the IAF only have five tanker aircraft. Not enough to refuel a sufficient number of strike aircraft to assure a successful mission.

If this is the case, they could be preparing to temporarily seize airstrips in north-east Somalia near the outlet of the Red Sea. There's a paved 13,000 ft. runway at Berbera and a 3,500 ft. dirt strip at Bosaso. The long, paved strip could be a place to land and refuel the three big KC-135 (Boeing 707) IAF tankers and the turboprop KC-130s could use one of several dirt strips. Some of the fighter-bombers may also have to stop there to gas up.

I suppose, if the Marine helicopters spot Europeans with lots of gas cans near Somali airports, that might tell them something. Or, they could just be looking for Osama in Somaliland.
