Ex-CIA agent asked to bring Osama's head on dry ice!
Ex-CIA agent asked to bring Osama's head on dry ice!

Agence France-Presse

Washington, May 4, 2005

US spy chiefs ordered agents to deliver Osama bin Laden's severed head in a box of dry ice and hoist heads of other Al-Qaeda leaders on pikes, a retired field officer has disclosed.

As America reeled in shock days after the September 11 attacks in 2001, former CIA officer, Gary Schroen, was sent to Afghanistan to help the opposition Northern Alliance to topple bin Laden's hosts, the Taliban.

He told National Public Radio (NPR) in an interview broadcast on Monday and Tuesday that he stopped by the office of then director of the CIA counter-terrorism center, Cofer Black, for final instructions.

He was told: "Your basic marching orders are to link up with the Northern Alliance and get their cooperation militarily and they will take on the Taliban.
"When we break the Taliban, your job is to capture bin Laden, kill him and bring his head back in a box full of dry ice."

33. Yep
I don't think they're going to be very successful in "finding" him personally. How else can Bush continue his "war on terror" and his PNAC plans? And you're right. If he's dead then he can't tell of all of Bush's crimes.

3. "heads on pikes" - BBC
Snip:

As for other leaders of Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network in Afghanistan, Mr Black reportedly said: "I want their heads up on pikes."

Contacted by the radio network, Mr Black would not confirm that these were his exact words but he did not dispute Mr Schroen's account.

The agent told NPR he had been stunned that, for the first time in 30 years of service, he had received orders to kill targets rather then capture them.

But he says he replied: "Sir, those are the clearest orders I have ever received.

"I can certainly make pikes out in the field but I don't know what I'll do about dry ice to bring the head back - but we'll manage something."

5. Of course. That's why special forces were stood down at Tora Bora
and forced to twiddle their thumbs while helicopters evacuated bin Laden's company to Pakistan.

From The Fayetteville Observer, August 2, 2002:

A Special Forces soldier says that troops had Osama bin Laden pinpointed in Afghanistan in November, but leaders took too long to decide to go after him and he slipped away.

...

The soldier, who said he was on the ground at Tora Bora when bin Laden was located, agreed to talk about the incident on condition that his name not be used.

...

...a Special Forces team captain on the ground would not give approval to go after bin Laden because there was no specific mission order to do so, the soldier said.

While the Army was deciding what to do, Special Forces soldiers saw two Russian-made helicopters fly into the area where bin Laden was believed to be, load up passengers and fly toward Pakistan.

"I said, 'There he goes,'" the soldier said.

Think of the dollars the GOP can reel in, charging a big admission price to see it.
Throw in a dinner, or a small peak meetin' with Shrub, and they can retire Laura,
Grandma Babs, and the twins with a nice pension.

They can call it "Pike's Peak or Osama's Bust".

7. Exactly what kind
of evidence did we have at that time that Osama Bin Laden was behind the attacks?

All I have heard is that"well, he admitted to it on those tapes." But those tapes were not made public until some time after the attacks.

Its amassing with all the crime dramas on TV not one single one has presented any proof that Osama Bin Laden was behind 9/11.

The Taliban said they would turn him over if the US could provide them any proof that he was behind the attacks. Powell promised to do so, but then Bush decided that "we don't need no stinking evidence" and bombed the hell out of a country that properly did not have anything to do with the attacks. But because they were bad people no body really cared.

10. That's right. The US has always been a, relatively,
situational adherent to rule of law. Our history is full of incidents where the US by-passed, side-stepped, or whatever you want to call it, the strict rule of law. But the new American Empire doesn't even pretend to adhere to any laws other than the ones that support its case on any given day. The new AE will steal anything, kill anyone, do anything it wishes and the rest of the world should feel happy for any lip service to law and order that they get. The AE wanted power, control, and profit and they would, and will, use any means to attain those things...

35. That's true
They just assumed and made claims. Didn't they know the name's and facts and pictures very shortly after 9/11? In CNN's archive's there's a story where a reporter interviewed BinLaden and told him about the 9/11 attacks and he claimed not to do it. The video that was released in November was very strange as well. He admitted to doing the attacks and I didn't see a gun near him. Does anybody remember if in that video BinLaden had two guards with him?

16. How biblical...
Are we still a "nation of laws"? or is that concept too "September 10"?

I still believe our greatness as a nation resides on our Constitution and the fact that we set laws above the rule of men. We know better, and we should know better than making these medieval pronouncements.

Just my opinion.

26. BBC story...
Mr Schroen was given a double brief, it reported: to liaise with anti-Taleban warlords on the ground as preparation for the overthrow of the regime, and to then assassinate Bin Laden and other top al-Qaeda figures.

The agency allowed Mr Schroen to pick his own six-man team and, exactly one week after 9/11, they were on a plane flying to the region, equipped with laptops, hand-held radios, instant coffee and $3m in $100 bills.

47. Or, just smoke. Don't kill any son of a BushCo family friend/investor.
Osama's head may have been ordered, but maybe it's just bluster. Who cares what Gen. Joe Scmoe says, when Osama is found, orders from the top, i.e. Bushco, supercede.

No one will listen if Osama talks. But, his mother and father still love the little schmuck, and these parents are friendly business partners with BushCo. The kind that W relied upon to bail him out during his whole life.

The delay in orders could have been W cogitating over ramifications. That would take him soooome time.

44. "not our priority"
"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, responding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts, 3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)

Now all of a sudden the state run pravda is making an excited noise about capturing this Al-Q dude that "may lead to Bin Laden." Why after all this time would he be a priority? Oh yeah, I forgot, the 2006 mid-terms are coming and people have really started to sour in Iraq. I predict a Bin-Laden capture about,oh, Sep.-Oct '06.
