RJ suspends Baghdad flights for third consecutive day
Means nothing, really, just because they can mortar the airport
at will, that doesn't mean there's any problem.

AMMAN — Royal Jordanian (RJ) maintained the suspension of its flights to Baghdad for the third consecutive day on Tuesday pending safety clearance from Iraqi civil aviation authorities.

The national carrier suspended its two daily flights to Baghdad on Sunday following an increase in mortar attacks on the airport.

Increasing mortar attacks on and around Baghdad Airport also prompted the ICAA to suspend Iraqi Airways flights to Jordan until further notice.

1. I can't believe there's any commercial service into Baghdad.
You can be damn sure the schedule is such that no member of a flight crew ever leaves the airport. Turn arounds only. And as you get off the plane, they sure as hell don't say "Have a nice day," just a simple "good-luck."

5. I can't believe the road to the airport hasn't been secured in almost 2
years! With 150,000 troops in Iraq and things going as good and Limbutt and aWol say they are wouldn't you think the most important road in the country would be secure within 2 years?

(I've never see a Media Whore mention anything about this.)

2. Kind of squelches demand for those $35,000 cab rides, no?
just click your heels together three times and say, "Mission accomplished! Mission accomplished!"

Oh, be sure to stuff your flight suit first :puke:

3. A friend of mine came home from Iraq a few weeks ago.
When I talked to him last year he said he was working in the 'green zone' in a TOC. When he came home a few weeks ago I asked him what it was like in the 'green zone' and he told me there isn't one anymore, that it is hot everywhere and that his position got mortared daily. I just hope he doesn't have to go back.

6. Iraq is going down.......much faster than I thought it would
15,700 attacks on coalition forces in the last 8 months (accoridng to that 'classified' document that they didn't classify too well), can't get to the airport, can't fly into the airport, the entire country is a war zone....the only people left in the world who think we 'won' are Faux News viewers.....man are they in for a surprise
