Rumsfeld Appearance a Hit With Opry Fans
Edited on Sun Apr-24-05 07:28 AM by gristy
Apparently, the "reporter" who attended this event and wrote this short article was unable to distinguish between support for Rumsfeld and support for the troops. He wrote the article so that the reader also is unable to distinguish this: "...audience applauded as Rumsfeld appeared and thanked the troops..." Of course, the office of propaganda knew exactly what they were doing and how the headline was to read.

Rumsfeld Appearance a Hit With Opry Fans
Defense Secretary Rumsfeld Appears at Grand Ole Opry, Thanks Audience

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Apr 24, 2005 - As members of the U.S. military watched on television via satellite from Iraq, Dolly Parton invited their boss, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, onstage at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday.

The audience applauded as Rumsfeld appeared and thanked the troops serving in the military.

As people entered the auditorium for Saturday's show they were given postcards with "America supports you," printed on them. Audience members waved the cards and shouted their support to the troops watching on television.

to get some of these bumpkins or their mutant off-spring to serve (BTW, I don't believe all people who like country music is a bumpkins, but the ones who applauded Donald Rumsfeld are)

2. Shades of Nixon...
A few days before Nixon had to flee in shame and disgrace, Tricky Dick popped up at the Grand Ol Opry to perform yo-yo tricks (to prove to the rest of the country that disgusted with the sleazy thug that "America still loved him.").

It didn't fool much of anyone then, either.

3. I'll pass, thank you.
Rumsfeld should be facing criminal charges at the Hague.

4. Loved by those you despise; it's a Republican's dream
If Rummy gives a hoot or a holler about those who listen to declasse country music, I'd be shocked right out of my Birkenstocks. Getting the masses to heave-ho to one's oligarchical whim is one of the supreme turn-ons of the user class.

5. Rumsfeld Cheered At Grand Ole Opry
(CBS/AP) As members of the U.S. military watched on television via satellite from Iraq, Dolly Parton invited their boss, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, onstage at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday.

Rumsfeld was sitting in the front row as Parton sang her hit "Coat of Many Colors" before he was introduced.

The audience applauded as Rumsfeld appeared and thanked the troops serving in the military.

As people entered the auditorium for Saturday's show they were given postcards with "America supports you," printed on them.

Audience members waved the cards and shouted their support to the troops watching on television.

In contrast, a human rights group is accusing Rumsfeld of not supporting the troops, but rather shifting blame for prison abuse down the ladder.

6. What IS wrong with these people? Maybe they're being paid.
More likely they had to sign some sort of loyalty oath before crossing the GOO hallowed threshold. I kinda liked Loretta Lynn until watching the 60 Minutes interview that ended with her all kissy-huggy with Dubya and Dad. Yikes! Must be the tax breaks. I'm sure the Coal Miner's Daughter gets plenty of them nowadays.

Okay, gotta go drink my Merlot and listen to New Age music now.
