Dems reject offer to investigate DeLay
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican chairman of the House ethics committee offered on Wednesday to begin an investigation of Majority Leader Tom DeLay to end a stalemate that has kept the panel from functioning this year.

Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Washington, made the proposal at a news conference flanked by three of the four other Republicans on the ethics panel. The evenly divided committee also has five Democrats.

Senior committee Democrat Alan Mollohan of West Virginia quickly rejected the offer, saying his party would continue blocking the panel from operating unless investigative rules imposed by Republicans were changed

9. Oh, god, yes!
She can't breathe half the time, acid reflux every night, pees every 20 minutes.

We're both beat, mainly because of my 2 year old who's been terrorizing us for the last 3 months. I swear, if the baby doesn't come soon, I'm doing an emergency c-section myself!

Do you know what you're having?

14. We decided not to find out the sex, this time.
Or, rather, my wife decided and I don't have the votes to override so...

Names? We're thinking Lauren Marie if it's a girl and Stephen James (not sure on the middle name) for a boy.

8. They are banking on a masquerade to pull wool over eyes
There is still that minor technicality about a rigged ethic panel.
This is one of many ploys to come.

Meanwhile I am happy to see DeLay so prominently in the media.
Kind of ironic isnt it?

10. Unlikely the DeLay mess would be unraveled any more than the 9-11
mysteries were unraveled with the investigative rules imposed by Republicans.

16. Instead of saying "investigative rules imposed," ...
... that should be "investigative rules fabricated by Republicans" or "demanded by Republicans."

The party of DeLay and Bolton does not play nice and it does not believe in teamwork, from the top of the party almost to the bottom.

17. Gee... Didn't see any of this coming.
Do these ploys the Repubes are running strike anybody else as incredibly, insultingly transparent? Props to the dems for sticking by their guns, because an investigation of Tom "Extortionator" Delay's dirty ass sounds very tempting to bring one back to the table. But, ultimately, if you're going to have an investigation, it has to be done right. And if you're going to have an ethics committee, don't make it a hockey game with no puck. The dems have made it very clear that the reason they are holding up the ethics committee is the fact that there's no point in having one if it's stacked up so that one side can block the other. That way nobody gets investigated, the ethically-challenged get away with "lapses in judgement", and we get screwed(that's how these things usually turn out). Meanwhile the pubes are screeching an incoherent array of "obstructionist" "partisan" "politics of personal destruction" and "activist judges"(wtf?). This isn't just about Tom "I am the Federal Government" Delay, but it sure would be nice to see him go down. Talk about needing to get your house in order.

24. Those new "investigative rules" MUST go!
The hubris of the Republicans in thinking that they can change rules to their liking is a huge danger to the future of this country.

28. I cannot believe the repukes offered up delay in this failed ploy
SOoooooo glad the Dems didn't go for it, but damn, the repukes must be desperate to offer up one of their own - how can they possibly defend him now? How can they be against investigating delay anymore after they acted as if it was needed?

This is the biggest thing yet that tells me delay is done. His party just tried to sacrifice him.

haa haha ha ha ha hahahaha
