Zarqawi 'rejects amnesty offer'
A militant group led by Jordanian rebel Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has rejected a call from the new Iraqi president to lay down its arms.

President Jalal Talabani was an agent of the US, it said, and he would never be forgiven for his "infidelity" and "spilling of the blood of Muslims". Zarqawi, Iraq's most wanted rebel, has claimed responsibility for many bombings and beheadings in Iraq.

The internet statement from Zarqawi's group, issued in the name of the al-Qaeda Organisation for Holy War in Iraq, said the president had called on militants to "enter into atheism, polytheism and the political game". "We only reserve the sword for you, agents of Jews and Crusaders. We will never give up jihad until Islamic law is established," it said

1. Sounds like --
the offer (if it is actual) might have come from the new Iraqi government, without the knowledge of the occupying power. Or without the "knowledge."

2. By the mood and size of the Iraqi protest yesterday in Baghdad
I'd say that Talabani is eating shit and barking at the moon.

3. I don't think that the 'new' Iraqi whatever has anything to offer to
anyone who resists the American occupation. They might as well be talking to a rock.

And by the new Iraqi whatever, I use that term because it sure as hell isn't a government. I don't know what to call it.

5. That was a funny one
One of the Iraqi ministers said we have him surrounded, we know he is moving in a number of locations or something like that.

7. There is no al-Zarqawi. The internet message was traced to a puter...
in Crawford, TX.
